Yes, our present dog has strange eating habits, and is quite difficult in transporting him in a car, his previous owner was constantly traveling and he was fostered by others, and that's how we acquired him, so he gets very anxious if we take him the to my daughters for a meal. Her Rottweiler and our Moodle are great mates, He's very bright, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy for a great review. Sunny quite enjoys car rides, so we are lucky that way. They all have their own little ways, and often their quirks are based on what they experienced early in life.

A six for making me laugh about you dog's strange appetite, especially the cat food bit. I also liked that he kept his treats as trophies. You should send this to Chicken Soup for the Soul--dog stories. If accepted, they pay $250! Check it out online. They are currently looking for cat stories.

Thanks so much for a wonderful review - and for the equally wonderful gift of six stars! I hadn't thought of sending his stories away, but I will definitely look into it. Thanks so much for the idea!

Hi, Wendy. This is Sam. Sunny surely has a good memory. I'm impressed. I have a few quirks of my own. The water at Paul's son's home has a lot of iron in it. I drink very little. When I go to Paul's house, his water is very nice, so I drink a lot. They get impatient with me because I have to pee a lot. Just before supper, I follow Paul around when he is cooking and impatiently wait for him to sit down at the table. I make sure that he has my little treat bowl, and then I put my head in his lap. I can usually get six or eight treats before the meal is over. When I'm at home, I have figured out all the signs that indicate that Paul's son is going somewhere in his truck. I am always ready for a ride. When it is bedtime, I want to make sure everybody is in bed before I crawl onto my dog bed. I have to pay close attention to everybody now because I am very hard of hearing. Give Sunny my best... Sam

Hi Sam, I think you have everything well organised in both your households. That's what we dogs have to do, to look after our own interests. Humans do catch on eventually, although mine is a bit slow at times. It took her days to realise I didn't want to eat from a bowl anymore. I got so hungry! But I am a bit stubborn too, and she's a softy, so I knew she'd eventually give in. I hang around mine at bedtime until she says a proper goodnight to me, with a tummy rub as well. Your typing is excellent Sam, and I always look forward to hearing from you. Your reviews are always so encouraging, so thank you heaps for reading. I hope your Grandmama is doing okay. Best wishes always,
    Sunny

I sounds like you have indulged Sunny in his quirky doggy habits and I expect if he was really hungry he would eat from any plate and he had you around his little paw and jumping through hoops instead of the other way around. A very clever dog indeed! I loved your sentimental post Wendy, you are a big softy, and Sunny sounds delightful, love Dolly x

I had to throw out quite a bit of dog food. There were times he would not eat for days. Survived just on his egg and milk. I thought he would eventually eat, but in the end it was simpler to just go with the flow and assume he would go back to his bowl one day. But no. Ah well, his tray is just as easy to wash as a bowl. Perhaps he's getting a bit funny/strange as he gets older. But yes, I am a softy too! Lol. Thanks so much for a super review.

We have to feed the cats away from Harley. He loves cat food, too. Thank you for sharing this club entry with us. I always enjoy reading about Sunny. He's special boy well, dog.

Seriously, Sunny deserves a whole book just about his clever quirks and memory!

How odd, this aversion to his food bowl...

It makes sense that something happened to trigger his aversion.

For SURE Sunny is a star both in your heart and on FanStory!

Thank you very much Karenina. Yes, something must have triggered it - but he will still pick up and eat a dropped sausage in a picnic area, and it's on the ground, and not necessarily very clean. He's a funny soul. Maybe he's getting a bit old, and fussy. but yes, he is still a starand very precious with hs funny little ways.

A someone just pointed out, he doesn't need to read - he only needs to see the picture of the cat! Lol. Silly me.

Thanks for the most entertaining post about your brilliant little Sunny! And of course, he'd like cat food because cats have more discerning taste buds so a dog of his ability to taste would prefer that kind of food! And apparently, he doesn't want other dogs' germs so sticks to his own water bowl. I still love that he waits to eat until you sit down for whatever reason!

Oh yes, you have a cat! Yes, cats probably are more discerning. Even if an insect had been in his bowl one time, I don?t know why that would worry him. He will eat scraps off the ground if he finds them at a picnic area. Thanks so much for your super review.

And, Wendy, for a small monthly stipend, I won't tell him, either, okay? You know my address, where to send the check.

What a hilarious and delightful tail...er, sorry...TALE this is!! I can imagine this adorable dog-human in ALL these situations. Too, too cute! It makes me a little envious, though. Our new puppy (Li'l Swish, now eight months old) is THE naughtiest dog of either my husband's or my life. All that's saving her is that she is so extremely cute to look at. Discipline? Never heard of it. Remembering? Why would she do THAT?

So I enjoyed the vicarious thrill of your good doggo with her manners and thoughtful "quirks." Maybe someday Li'l Swish will get to this point. (Highly doubtful, but I'm juuuuuust creative enough to imagine it.)

Rin Tin Tin and Lassie hasn't a thing on your Sunny. He as near to human as a canine can get, and more than just being any human he must be a child as well.

He sounds like a very intelligent dog. I enjoyed your story very much. I have not had many dogs in my life, but the one that I did have was really special. His name was Prince, and he was a prince of a dog. Patricia .

Prince is a super name for a dog. When we adopted him, his name was "Crank" which did not suit him at all! He has such a sunny nature that I chose "Sunny" for his name. Thank you for such a lovely review.
