This is the sweetest story told in such a succinct form but pulling at the heart strings with that memory beautifully incorporated into the second to last line. To lose both your husband and daughter to the war was so tragic but her spiritual experience of their proximity would provide comfort and peace. Thanks for sharing, Kay. Good luck! And take care, Debbie

Debbie, Thanks so much for reading. One is hampered when trying to fit a story in 100 words!
Have a great night. Love, Kay xx

I like the ending in your story because I believe our families and loved ones guide us home when we pass on. Since my father was a soldier in WWII, I can relate to the lady in your story. Excellent writing here.

We never forget them. They live with us always in memory and in every facet of life. Your post is most poignant. I understand from your last lines that she has at last been called to join her loved ones in everlasting peace.
Such an appropriate theme as Anzac Day approaches.

A poignant 100 word story as the old lady's husband and daughter come for her after she has had many years waiting to be reunited. A lovely story leading up to ANZAC day,K.
Cheers
Valda

Hi Valda, Many thanks for reading. Loneliness in old age is terrible when there is no family to care. I'm looking forward to seeing my family. Love, Kay.

You called them as you saw them and for that, I give you a sixer. The spirit of the mother joins the spirits of the family members from so long ago. I love the picture it shields us from the wreckage of the war because war is a dirty business.
Thanks for keeping it real.
Jesse
