This was sad. Sometimes it does feel as if we leave those we love behind. Whether it is intentional or not. But even when you realize the distance growing, you can't always stop to wait for them. Really emotional. Gretchen

Jessica, this is beautiful: "You told me once, you'd chase the dawn to watch me touch the sun." If you had wrote this alone, I would have loved it.

I assume this is for your sister, but it could be said by many to the loved ones who have fallen.

I don't know how you write so many so well. Perfection.

Oh my dear Jessica, this one of yours gave me chills...good chills..
Love these last 4 lines..

For when you went, you took the wind
I guess you never knew;

that if I ever touched the sun,
I flew because of you.

Wow...this was captivating and breath-taking. The words flowed so easily as I was reading it, and it was almost soothing. The word choice was excellent--if not perfect. The literary devices used were phenomenal. I found basically no errors in this beautifully written poem. Very well done.

This makes me so sad. I don't know who this is addressed to, perhaps to a younger sibling who was always in the shadow of the talented narrator/poet. And the love she feels for and of the sibling who adored her was the wind in the sails of the high achiever. Beautifully said but also so sad because the other "fell" and is not present.

OMGosh, I couldn't hardly read this without tears, but the ending I started bawling my head off. Oh, honey, I feel the pain you still have for your sister's death. I truly do and wish I could grab thru the screen and help you and make it better for you. This was lovely and so sad at the same time.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your beautiful poetry, but when it is about her, I feel it too. Right in my heart and my soul. I feel your pain and I feel the anguish of the love you still have and always will for her. Please know I am always here for you, but I want to make it better because I love you so much. Please take care of yourself sweetie. I wrote you an email but you might want to delete it for this week.
Love this poem and love you!!! Debi

Debi, you hold such a special place in my heart. No words could ever capture how much I value you, and the comfort your genuine care brings. Your sincerity means the world to me. And I wish I could take that hug! lol Thank you, my Debi!
    Love you! Xoxoxo

This is just a beautiful poem, my friend. I see, perhaps, the loss of Kelly in this one or someone as close as she. Someone that was the a champion of your flight. Poignant, tender, and wonderfully crafted and illustrated.
A virtual six with compliments.
Sending you my best today as always.

So intriguingly beautiful, Jess. Perhaps a hidden love from afar? Upon passing or leaving, they never knew how they touched this author's heart.

You have a gorgeous muse, dear lady! Best, JohnC

This poem, You Took the Wind, presented with fourteen end-rhymed couplets, takes the reader's heart a line at a time as I read what seems like the loss of a child. Hope it is fiction, but it is quite affective.
