So, now is Brian going to get the drugs illegally. I have known that to happen and unfortunately often. I am afraid for him. Thank you for sharing this story with us. I am enjoying reading.

Good instincts, Barbara. Now that he's been exposed to the incredible effects of Oxy, and with his obsessive personality, that can be a recipe for disaster.

All caught up now. I am busier than a one armed paperhanger at a wallpaper convention. I do not have time to review each one in order to catch up. Good theme. Good work. Karen

I'm impressed you read the whole thing. I'm glad it kept your interest well enough to do that.

Very dramatic and very well written. He has survived but physical and emotional trauma will be ongoing. Interesting part about while he was unconscious and reality was so distorted. Wonder if any of the party goers visited him or tried to help with his recovery?

Thanks very much, Wendy. He will indeed suffer some long-term effects from this accident. I'm glad you liked that metaphorical cave scene. You'll get a much better picture of what was following him in the cave as the story progresses.

Well-written.
I'm a bit surprised that Brian didn't suffer any worse injury. I'm guessing his work ended, along with his income. And, of course, he no longer had a car. How about his friendships? Any changes, excepting Sandi, of course.

Perhaps I should lower the speed at which he struck the tree to 35 mph. It wouldn't have served the plot to have his body too broken up. I just wanted the accident to lead to a chronic pain.

Car, job, Sandi definitely gone, soon to all be replaced.

,,, and then he wrote...
what is with Brian and the dark. First, the crash and then the cave?
Aah the light in my head goes on.
Daresay? I love that word as much as forthwith that Frank Reagan uses on Blue Bloods regularly.
The paragraph that starts with TESTS was informative, but I had to look up
five words.
Isn't NOW superfluous re: the 14 year old cat? I use it more than I should along with SO.
A good chapter, and I see more problems for the lad using OXY.

Ah, yes, the dark. You can view the cave scene and the dark as metaphorical. He is in the dark about himself but eventually the light will reveal what he needs to know to succeed in life. It will become clear what was following him in the cave.

It looks as if Brian has paid a high price for his folly. I was initially confused by the opening paragraphs of this chapter as I didn't immediately catch on to the idea that this was all happening inside his head. Nonetheless, it soon became clear.
I imagine his recuperation will be a long-drawn-out affair and will have lasting impact.
Only one suggestion:
at a high rate of speed (At high speed)

Can you guess what was following him in the cave in this dream?

This will not be an easy recovery, and he's going to pay the price for his stupidity.

I like your suggestion and will change it.
