A very sad commentary on what is going on around the world, Barry.
Ukraine's Child
Oh, my dear child, why do you weep?
Do falling bombs keep you from sleep?
Why don't you go outside to play?
Are soldiers in your street today?
What do you see, my little child?
Are those dead bodies being piled?
Where are your folks? Are you alone?
I hear the blasts and siren's tone.
I see that you are on your knees
And asking God, "Dear Father, please,
Just stop this war, and if you would,
I promise, God, I will be good.

Paul,
What a good poem- Ukraine's Child. Thanks for the review. Yes, a sad topic and I am not sure there is a solution. Topping the major wars going on at the moment would be a good start.
Take care

I think the influx of refugees has always been a fillip for Australia, at least economically, because we have a culture of entitlement, we will always have trouble from within and without, this is a terrific poem, Barry. Blessings Roy

Author,
Your touching poem tells of the horrid lot of being a war refugee.
I watch the news and am saddened that war (on both sides) rues nothing but destruction.
I just have one suggestion: in the third stanza, instead of repeating the word "nice" two times, you could tell of the awful "price" one's pays as a refugee.
Great entry for the contest.
Good luck!
Cindy

You have written a snapshot of the terrible war in Gaza through the eyes of a child. Some say "where is God in their deaths and misery?" The huge refugee problem is something we can only watch on TV. Innocent women and children starving, men can't fight back. Pray for them in the midst of misery. K xx

Beautiful poem, and very deep. The poem is raw and brings about emotion to the reader, as they visualise how they would feel if this was their life. It captures very pressing matters in the current world we live in. I am very grateful to have read this poem.
