Hello Gretchen,
It sounds like your imagination is going overtime. I recall watching some movie years ago starring Harrison Ford I believe, where he ends up in Amish country for some reason or another. He's a cop I think, and doesn't abide any BS from the surrounding community of non-Amish miscreants. I have a song on my I pod by Weird Al Yankovich titled Amish Paradise that I think is hilarious. I rather admire the Amish. They managed to separate themselves from the rest of the world and they make it work. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I remember Amish Paradise. Lol. I'm sure my version of the Amish will probably be more closely related to his. This should be fun. Gretchen

I enjoyed this humorous post as you tell your side of this unusual and unfortunate road trip. I glad to see you are lighthearted about the breakdown and I am not sure Rachelle feels the same way, ha ha ha, a fun and entertaining post Gretchen, the two of you are hilarious! Love Dolly x x x

I can't wait to see where this is going. There are SO many hilarious lines, but this, in particular, may just be my favorite one...
"Hey, how's that water?"
Haha! I can hear and relate to the awkwardness there, and I love it!

Hah! Gretchen!
Having visited Amish country on three separate occasions, I laughed aloud at the thought of you meeting your demise among the beautiful farmhouses and rolling farmland of the many Amish denizens that inhabit places like Lancaster, Bird-in-Hand, and Intercourse, PA.
And I truly laughed aloud at the sight of both you and Rachelle riding merrily along in Amish buggies! Oh my!

Much enjoyed!
Hope you both get a taste of "Shoo-Fly-Pie" on your detour!

Thank you for sharing!
Fondly,
diane

I love the Amish. Very Old Testament in their beliefs. Very big on tradition and following the ways of the elders and so on. Witness is a good movie about the Amish with Harrison Ford. Keep it coming.

Rachelle was right about the outfit and heels, huh? Even Amish men are moved by a good-looking woman:-) I spent a summer with my sister in Amish country in Northern Indiana when I was 16. Let's just say 16-year-old Amish boys like girls in short-shorts:-)

Well, I already know you won't die and will be well taken care of by these Amish folks. The Amish kick ass; I'll take them over Kathy Bates. Besides, wasn't she the horror in "Misery"?

Now I get to go read Rachelle's chapter. This is fun! I'm glad you two decided to do this.

Kathy Bates was the nutcase in Misery but I lived her in Titanic. "The Unsinkable Molly Brown". These amish men won't be seeing this old lady in any short shorts. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretvhen

Lol. Of course your story resembles exactly who I imagine the real Rachelle to be! And you write yourself just as you are in my mind. More like me. I am enjoying this collaborative effort and will next proceed to Rachelle's version of events! Very well done.

Your and Rachelle's versions of the story are much more fun to review if I take them as though they're real. With that in mind, my first question is, with her wearing 3 1/2" heels, was there really any question as to who was going to go for help?? I have to wonder if that isn't the reason she wears such high heals on a road trip.

My second question is why you were so worried about being picked up by an Amish buggy. You asked Rachelle how many horror movies start like this. I believe the correct answer is none. If one of the people who picked the two of you up was wearing a leather mask or carrying an electric saw, you neglected to mention it. I will accept that, as so many horror stories (or, at least, as Snoopy's horror stories) start, "It was a dark and stormy night" so, maybe, there is some cause for concern.

So far I'm enjoying the story, and I'm about to read Rachelle's next entry.

I was referring to people with a dead car, and suddenly someone comes to help. Or just being stranded in the middle of nowhere. Lol. It's all in good fun. And good point about the three inch heels. She's a tricky one. Thank you for this fun review. Gretchen

If my reviews are as much fun as your and Rachelle's stories, I'm content.

Hah! Quite interesting. What a predicament.
The Amish are compelled to help, but have no phones. And no doubt, they'd rather not expose their children to two women of the world.

I like the idea of two very recognisable identities joining together on a fictitious trip to a convention organised by fanstory, I can't make it, my finances don't stretch to The states, Rachelle can provide the music this should be very intersting, well done Gretchen, blessings Roy
