Well, if Julia's mother's friend has dogs, she couldn't be as uptight as Julia's mom! But I can imagine someone who is not used to dogs being quite unnerved by their rambunctious behavior. Great chapter which shows Brian's dedication to Julia!

Thanks, Helen. Newfs are so huge too, even puppies. It's no wonder she couldn't stand them.

Oh, I know Newfies! One guy in our old neighborhood had a monster-sized one who drooled uncontrollably. He has to periodically mop the walls of his house.

That takes a lot of courage for Brian to face New York traffic, but Julia really does need him. Hopefully he gets enough sleep to get back home. I don't see how Julia can practice with those dogs at the house, unless Brian takes her to his motel, where her practicing may not be allowed.

They'll go back to the hotel, but she won't be practicing! There's more than one way to settle the nerves. :)

    That makes perfect sense.

Well written.
That had to be a very expensive surprise.
Puppies!!!!!!!!!!! Terrible conditions. But she should be all practiced up by now.
Best wishes.

Smart move on Brian's part to further win a larger piece of her heart by flying into NYC
Where did his money come from
Now, he has to panhandle to make some cash because as an eighteen year old he has no credit card

Nah, he drove. Didn't cost that much. No credit card yet but he has a trust fund.

I'm glad Brian went to see Julia but I have a feeling she and or he isn't out of the woods let. I am really liking this story. You're doing a good job writing it. Thank you for sharing.

"The woods" is a complex landscape, and it isn't always easy to navigate your way out. Even when you think you're out and in the clear, it may just be a temporary break in the forest and you're soon right back in them. We'll see if these two eventually find the true way out if there even is one, since maybe life itself is just one great woods and what we should be searching for is the place in the woods where we feel happy?

I'm sure Julia is stressed over the audition and feeling she isn't totally preparred and the dogs aren't helping. I'm anxious to find out how the audition goes.

Let's put it this way. I think by the time of the audition, she'll be in a pretty good frame of mind.

Then he better get to work on his invention pretty quick. LOL

This work has reached the exceptional level

This was so fantastic that halfway through, I wasn't even reading like a FS reviewer anymore; I was just a reader enjoying a good novel. This chapter was authentic and sweet and very well-written. This book is coming along so well, Jim!! xoxoxo

I put a lot of extra effort into this chapter, and it's become one of my favorites so far. Now, I'll be very curious to hear your reaction to the next chapter coming soon.

Thank you very much, Lindsey. My daughter is named Lindsay, except with an "a". I'm so glad you found this story.

If you are interested in catching up, I provide a brief recap of the previous chapter in each new posting, so reading those would be a quick way to get the gist of the story without reading the whole thing.

The easiest way to do this is to click on the >>> to the right of the last few chapter numbers at the top of the posting. This will get you to the table of contents page for the novel where each chapter is shown. You can simply click on each one to get you there quickly to read the recaps. You may, however, want to read the Prologue in its entirety (it's short) to give you the proper context for the rest of the book.
