I think you did a good job of articulating the tension, the anxiety and uncertainty we feel when we are confronted with a situation like this when a loved one is facing dangerous surgery. I know I felt the same way when my dad had colon surgery. I think the short lines and the tight meter almost caught that tick tock of the clock that we feel as the time seems to take forever until we hear that all is well. The rhyme scheme also hammers that home. Glad to hear he is OK. estory

Wow, what a great review. You nailed it. You mostly chose to review the poem instead of the content, and I thank you so much.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Well clearly heartfelt and a good job to boot. Yes, always difficult to wait the outcome of serious surgery such as this. Been there myself. Your brother is a lucky man to have you as a younger brother. Thanks for sharing. All the best in the contest.

Barry Penfold.

Jesse, the waiting is the worst. The outcome was wonderful. I liked your sparse poem telling about your wait time for your precious brother. And yes, I'm no stranger to narrow operating beds, I think because the surgeons need to be closer to the patient. K xx

A feeling of dreaded anticipation in this poem. You can almost feel the time creeping. I'm glad the ending was happy and that he is doing well now. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your positive feedback. I love your description of the time creeping. Yes, this has a happy ending but he is not out of the woods yet. Today he developed a lung infection. He is on antibiotics.
Let's hope and pray that he recovers well with each day.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

-I am glad to hear your brother came out of the surgery okay.
-It is always a big relief to hear that news.
-You did a good job with your poem,
highlighting the feelings most people have
when waiting to hear news of a surgical procedure.
-It's like your life stops; you're not hungry; you
just think a lot and try to focus on other things.
-And do all of that while "the minutes crawl."
-How is your brother doing and does he live near you?
-Thanks for sharing, Jesse, I hope it has helped
you deal with this difficult situation.

Thanks, Pam, for your lovely detailed review.
I'm glad I represented others when they wait for someone who is in surgery. It takes up all our strength to wait and wonder.
My brother does live near me. But, he went by plane to a hospital far away to have his surgery.
Yesterday, he caught an infection in his lungs. He is currently on antibiotics. I am still worried about him. He is not out of the woods yet.
Yes, writing this has helped me immensely.
    Thanks for letting me share.
    Take care, my friend.

He still has a long infection. I'm waiting until his daughter gets back before I call him. I hope he is progressively getting stronger.

This is a wonderful poem that commemorates the open heart surgery your brother had to endure. All of us stand in line and wait for both good and bad. There's a part of us that would like all of life to be like the microwave but it is not. I'm glad your brother is doing well. God bless!

I've never heard of life being compared to a microwave before. Clever analogy. Thanks for the blessings.
