I have had a similar experience with my publisher. I have given up on this publisher and now sell the books myself. I have given away many books for free to my friends and relatives. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but I can't help myself.

Hello Barbara,
well done on your book signing. I absolutely hate doing that kind of stuff. I know I could sell more books if I would do it, but I'm just not that comfortable being out there. I'm also dealing with finding someone to print more books for me. I contacted Amazon, and they wanted $10.00 per book to print over a hundred for me. I sell the retail for $14.95, which would be fine if I sold them all myself, but I sell a lot of books to retailers for $9.00 each, so I need my cost to be around $5.00 or so. I'll keep trying to find the right person I guess. I may have to go overseas, something I loathe doing. Anyway, well done gal. Keep up the good work.

None of my books cost over $5.00 to print. I did notice the price is going up, though.

Your books might have a fewer number of pages. The one book I'm almost out of has 214 pages. I'm looking in to Instant Publisher. They are offering books of my size for less than six dollars each if I order 250 I believe. I can do that and keep them available for sale, like I've done in the past.

My last one had 584 pages. They all have tons of pages.

I'm not sure amazon is printing mine. It might be my publisher. I need to check that out, for sure. I thought it was amazon, but don't know.

Bookwriting Cube. I deal with Kevin Sanders. I really like him, but I have had numerous serious discussions with him, because he also frustrates me. I do recommend him though.

Writers, write for their own enjoyment, but more than that, they write for impact and inspiration for others. We need cheerleaders and this is a good place for that.

I see what you're saying, Barbara. What I think is that many of those self publishing companies are ripping the writers off, and then they do nothing. They've got the money they wanted.

The publishing houses get their money up front, and then leave it to you to do all the work and sell books. I have somewhat of a similar strategy, hoping to set up some signings in local bookstores, church fairs and coffee shops. The problem with being an unknown author is that the company can do a press release, but nobody is going to know who you are and the books sit in limbo on the internet. Everybody wants to be read, nobody wants to read. Reading is dying off among young people in many respects. But at least there are some people reading. estory

So true, my publisher set up a beautiful website and an author's page both on FaceBook and Amazon, but nobody knows who I am so don't visit it. I somehow need to get my name out there. I do through the books signing, but that's such a small audience. Thank you for the support.

I thought that book signing events are set up by the publisher. The reason why one publishes thro a publisher is that he would take on the publicity work. I admire you for your hard work. You are lucky to have a son who does help ...God bless you to have lots more achievements
