Nature works with nature, providing shelter, food and safety. I love the powerful image of the cacti in your visual. I'm not familiar with that particular bird but it sounds small and in need of protection. Thank you for sharing your thought-provoking verse which I enjoyed. Good luck! Debbie

Cleo45 does amazing work. I could almost see a face in the rock. Yes, it is amazing the relationships between plants and animals. How fortunate for the cactus wrens to have this protection from the heat. The cactus are impressive for their height. Excellent touch of alliteration with Sky-high and stand. judi

A poet I am not so I have no idea if your haiku is correctly formed or not, but I like the words and how the cactus stands in the heat, throwing shade for the little bird so it doesn't perish in the sun.

I like it! I never heard of the "cactus wrens" before. I like your description of the cacti as "sky-high columns". Yes, there is such an intricate balance between plants and animals and humans. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you so much for your truthful review. That is most of our role as poets, to condense truth down to a minimum of wordiness. Haiku is what I write when it's time to clean the closet out, ha ha.
