I'd love to see her smack him one, but as Waylan told her, he will be even worse if he does. But I want her to do something. He has enough on his mind with his Dad being a rat. I wonder what Dougie is up to? Aother fabulous chapter, my freind. :)) Sandra zz

Thank you, Sandra. She will try to play nice for Waylon, but after that, it's anybody's guess what will happen. Gretchen

I never understood some teachers and you are doing a good job portraying this one. I really like this story.
We walk into the trailer and I put my work vest on the counter and search the fridge for a beer. (comma after 'trailer' you switched subjects)

Unfortunately, my youngest son had a teacher like that. I had to step in but we got things straight. Gretchen

Always superb humour and characterisation! I love Mitch and thought he might make more of the bottles being smuggled in their boobs! But just opening his mouth and not saying anything (when it comes to his response to Miranda) more than made up for it. And now your lovely Mother Hen is bracing herself for a confrontation with Mr Tomlin. Perfect last line! Thanks for making me chuckle here, Gretchen. I needed that! Debbie

Thank you, Debbie. I'm glad you got a laugh out of this. I enjoy writing Miranda's character because I never know what's going to happen or what she's going to say. Gretchen

I'm beginning to think Miranda isn't going to let this thing pass without getting involved with Mr. Tomlin in spite of Waylon thinking it will make things worse. She doesn't let much pass.

No, Miranda faces life with gusto. Lol. She will try to be nice the first meeting, but it isn't going to be easy. Thank you for this. Gretchen

It's tough growing up during this era. There are so many hands grabbing for their time. It was so different when I grew up, but we had the same problems, from parents to peer groups. What a wonderfully written chapter. Best of luck with your writing! Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you, Mike. I'm glad I grew up when I did. We had the same problems but our parents handled things differently. No social media. Thank you so much fir this outstanding review. Gretchen

Yes indeed, some teachers aren't the best, and can have prejudicial attitudes. And although Mitch drops by, says what's up, she tells him about the shoplifters tells him she handled it, beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy

Here in Britain we used to have a local beat bobby on the streets and we would ge to know him, all that has stopped now and the local Police only get to know the criminals on the streets. Life for the local officers is very different in these small towns in America.
Emotions play a big part in sabotaging learning and maybe Waylon is struggling with his studies, or maybe that teacher is just a prize wassock. Either way, Mirander is concerned.
Just one suggestion for your first paragraph:
(without) is one word.
Another fine post in your story Gretchen, love Dolly x x x

Ooh, what's a wassock? That's one I've not heard about. Thank you. This teacher and Miranda are going to butt heads. Gretchen

It is a word used in the Midlands and it means (idiot), my husband used this word a lot! Love Dolly x

Ah, but was Mr. Tomlin correct about the work? An interesting chapter. I can understand the boy's head not being into his schoolwork or much else. We can't choose our parents. Well written chapter. This also shows the drawbacks of dating a single parent.

The teacher may be right but it's the attitude that gets Miranda. She'll know more after the meeting she plans to have with him. Gretchen
