I loved reading this, as it is filled with emotion - love, guilt, fear, honesty.
You were able to convey all the feelings of a man soon to go into the military, but wanting to marry the woman he loves. Well done.

My husband did 23 years in the military. I lost count of how many holidays, birthdays, anniversaries he missed. He almost missed the birth of our youngest child. He literally arrived minutes before. It is hard to sustain a marriage when your partner is always gone, but it can be done. Thank you for sharing.

A lovely, rhyming free verse which sounds as though it's being expressed from experience. There's such a deep poignancy when couples are separated like this and you skilfully capture this. Well done, Harry. Debbie
