Well said - but I am afraid this is the current reality. In Australia I don't think we have it quite as bad, but I hope we don't follow the US in these trends eg our voting and political opinions are usually kept pretty quiet, as we consider such things to be private, so it doesn't destroy too many friendships. It's a rapidly changing world. Your poem is well expressed and logical - and I send best wishes for the contest.

They say our memory is failing, but I don't agree. We remember the good times and the way life was a lot simpler than the way it is now. I wish I could go back to those days. You did an excellent job, Beth. Wish I had a six for this one.

Reading through each of the stanzas my reading glasses was nodding I'm agreement, I often say I wish some.things were just like the old days, when life was simpler. My kids are shocked to hear how things were when I was growing up and they agree that some things they even wish never became so prominent, like social media well done and good luck I'm the contest!

But I think, fundamentally, when we're younger we can take life more in our stride, distracted by more practical issues of raising a family and working.
