The opening lines really grabbed me in this poem. I think the image of the rudderless ship without a captain is a great image that captures this sense of what the world and life would be like without God. So many people seem to feel like mankind is and should be the master of his own destiny. Well, hasn't history shown us what mankind can do? Look where we are now. We have technology, but underneath it is the same failings, the same disappointments and the same struggles between peoples. estory

Well done, Roy. This isn't my favorite Roy Owen poem, but it's absolute truth.
My only suggestion is in that last line, use some punctuation to make it more clear. "Adam, where are you?"
It amazes me that people still hide from God. I've been known to do it, myself. Foolishness, sure. But we still try, don't we.

I think we should be kind to our neighbours , treat them as we would like to be treated, with respect.
It has nothing to do with believing in and pleasing God , we should spread kindness because it's the right thing to do .
Doing good uplifts the soul.
We would be living in a world where peace reigns and not hatred.
If we all cared for each other there would be harmony.
What I'm trying to say is our actions should be fuelled by a caring heart and not by fear that if we don't behave we will go to hell.
If we are good because we want to simply live in harmony with our neighbours all these issues with different religions would be muted.
I hope you get what I'm saying .

A beautiful, spiritual poem, Roy, and a wake up message for those who doubt there is a God. Yes there is a lot of evil in the world, but there is also good and we need to look beyond the evil and pray that God's will be done.
