Hello Joann,
I'm kind of like a little kid at times, speaking whatever is on my mind, and only after the cat is out of the bag do I start to worry about offense. I'm off to PT this afternoon, so I'll see if I survive that ordeal. Thanks so much for the fine review gal.
Have a blessed day.

TB,
This was a great post. I am a veteran so I am not offended easily. I thought your story was hilarious and anyone who has surgery can understand the side effects of those meds. I'm surprised they gave you oral meds.
Well done

Hello Cecilia,
thanks for the great review gal. They gave me oral meds before the operation to calm me down I guess, and also a block of some kind in my leg during the operation, then back to some powerful stuff post op. I'm glad I have them on the one hand, but it seems that everything has some unwanted side affect that goes with it. I'll be glad when I'm better and won't need to deal with this issue anymore, then it will be on to the next problem.
Have a blessed day gal. Thanks for your service!

This is a honest expression of what you went through before and after you knee surgery .Are you better now/ your knee pain is better? Dulcolax is the common tablets here in India too, to get the business done...

Hello Sanku,
I'm better than I was I guess, but there is still a fair amount of pain to deal with. The doctor mentioned that they use a two pound hammer to pound the leg bone back in place, so it takes awhile to get back in shape again. Thanks so much for your concern.
Have a blessed day.

Hello Tom.
I'm sorry to hear about your trip to the pain palace. I will add you to my prayer list. I have to go along with you. The worst part of controlling the pain and keeping you drowsy is the Constipation. Now that I'm 78, I've actually considered eating prunes for each meal. The way you have mended this anecdotal story is great. It's amusing because of its humor, but it's also amusing because of your style. The narration is outstanding, and I hope you get to feeling better very soon. You've made the rest of us feel fortunate. Believe me, I feel fortunate.
God bless you Tom

Hello Robert,
thanks so much for caring my friend. I'll gladly take all the prayers I can get, I believe they really help. When the ducolax didn't work, I drank a bottle of Magnesium Citrate, then ate five prunes and a cup of prune juice. It took awhile, but results finally came, and they keep on coming. I go from one extreme to the other. On the plus side, I'm sleeping better, at least for now. I don't expect to be able to run a marathon, but hopefully, I'll be able to walk around the block without pain. Have a blessed day.

As always, you have written an amusing story that could cheer up anyone who can read. I have never heard anyone say getting a new knee is a breeze, but most of them love it a few months later. Hope it works for you and internal movement resumes.

Hello Carol,
As you know, getting older isn't for sissies, but it beats the alternative. I've had the left knee done already, and though I couldn't walk like I used to when I was young, at least I had more mobility. I'm hoping the pain stops soon, I'm getting pretty tired of it. Things are moving along well in the other department, actually a little too good now. There is nothing like trying to sprint upstairs to the bathroom with a walker. That could probably be a new reality show. Give a bunch of old folks at a nursing home a round of laxatives and watch them charge to the high rise toilets down the hall. I imagine it would only be funny if you weren't the care givers responsible for cleaning up any messes. Good to hear from you gal.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Yes, you told me you would be occupied for a while. I prayed for you and while, we really couldn't help with the indignities, we did pray for a good and swift outcome. Hot sauce, popcorn, dark chocolate and lots of full strength soda are fun things to move you along. Drink lots of liquid, which means getting up to pee more. It's a trade off. My sister Lynda is doing well in her therapy for her knees. My sister Tammy is going under the knife for her eyes soon. Life goes on. I have faith you and Jan will come through this just fine. I have missed you here. Great true to life story. As always. Karen

Hello Karen,
thanks so much for the outstanding review and six, and for the encouraging words. Jan has been a real trooper, helping me every step of the way. I hate for her to have to wait on me so much. After almost 53 years of marriage, she's still showing me love in new ways. It sounds like you and your sisters have had to endure a lot. It can either make you or break you I guess, and I have the feeling that your lot doesn't break easily. I appreciate your prayers gal. We never know how much they really do help, and it's always encouraging to know others care enough about you to take time out of their day to lift you up.
Have a blessed day my friend.

Hello Roy,
I've never been exposed to enough sun to worry about skin cancer, but any operation has its issues for sure. Yes, operating rooms are notorious I think for leaving the patient exposed. I guess they don't want anything binding or cutting off the blood flow, so it's easier to just leave the patient naked as a jaybird. I have to hope that there is a level of professionalism prevalent so that they keep any thoughts to themselves. The nice part is, if they were making comments, I didn't know about it. Thanks so much for the great review my friend.
Have a blessed evening.

Thank you for sharing and please keep us updated. My husband had this done a few years ago. You, and your wife, are in my prayers.
Â
I don't know why, it's not like I was going to get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the operation. (My husband refused to put them on. Such a rebel. LOL)
I suppose because they thought I didn't look ridiculous enough with a paper thin gown on, my nostrils had to look like they were going to spout fire at any moment. (I laughed out loud.)
(Nude doctors and nurses and interesting thought, especially wearing those socks.)

Hello Barbara,
thanks so much for the wonderful review. If Jan hadn't been with me in the prep room, I might have refused the socks, but my bigger fear was being exposed to the operating room staff. They assured me I would be covered up, but I'm not convinced they told the truth.
Have a blessed day gal.

I don't know if it was the drugs talking or just your outstanding sense of humor, but regardless it was so entertaining to hear you walk us through your operation... I'd have never guessed the pain. LOL I've put my surgeries off for a long time... and doubt I will ever do it. Thanks for sharing! Hope you recover quickly.
Smiles and hugs!

Hello Carol,
it might have been a combination of both. I didn't want to drag the whole procedure on too long, but I wanted to give folks a feel for what it was like. Right now, the overwhelming symptom I'm feeling is pain. It's about time to take some pills.
Have a blessed day gal.

I'm so sorry for your pain, but I certainly enjoyed your narrative. Pain makes you funnier. Must be all that medication.
Seriously, you are funny. An operating room full of naked people wearing nothing but ugly non-slip socks!! I can't get that image out of my mind. And your description of the pre-op questions is spot-on. I don't know how the medical profession gets any thing done for all the paper work.
Hope you get to feeling better soon. But in the meantime, keep writing while you are zoned out on the drugs.

Hello Debbie,
thanks so much for the exceptional review and the six gal. I've been blessed with a good sense of humor, and perhaps the drugs enhanced that part of my personality, but even so, I'm going to get off of them as soon as I can. I don't like taking drugs, but I hate pain even more. I posed the question to someone yesterday about whether or not there were hospitals in nudist colonies. It might not be a bad idea, it might keep the patient's mind off their pain.
Have a blessed day gal.
