Hello Harry,
And interesting and fun trip down memory lane. The Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch were part of a long continuing series of shows culminating collectively in the Happy Days. Of course, we needed some "happy" in those days of the sixties/seventies. In the fifties, Ozzie and Harriet and others led the way.
Shirly Jones and Florence Henderson brought the star power and the voices. Though Cassidy was was a teen idol, Susan Dey stole the heart on many a male viewer.
Isn't it amazing how The Wrecking Crew were behind the music of many of the shows and bands. They played on many of the albums too.
Excellent story.
Best wishes.
Robert

I just loved this show as well. My favorite Cowsills song is, "The Rain, The Park and Other Things." From The Partridge Family, "Come On, Get Happy," is the winner. It makes me instantly happy.
A great write, Harry, and happy memories stuck in my Jukebox head. Thanks for sharing!
Sending you my best today as always.

Well-written report.
The only song I recognized after a YouTube search was Indian Lake. Afraid you lost your guarantee with 'C'mon Get Happy'. I didn't care for it a bit. But that's what personal taste is all about.
This is another show that I never saw a single episode.
Best wishes.

You do love your sitcoms. I was a much darker child. I loved Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, Alfred Hitchcock. But also I love Lucy, The Red Skelton Show, and Carol Burnett. I watched the Partridge family , I liked Danny the best. :-)

Oh, I liked those shows too! That was the days when there was quality tv!
-
Back then, we used our intelligence and imagination. They didn't show us every dimple or pore, that let our minds fill in the blanks. Things were not explained to death.
We knew it was pretend. Karen
-
You are so right Karen. We had to actually think lol!

Movies and tv for the most part were better then we were involved. And the game shows! Password, Match game, I've got a secret, What's my line, To tell the truth. Jeopardy Karen

I feel like I learn so much when I read your personal essays.
I agree with you about music, my favorite songs also have a way of shifting my mood for the better.
The bands you mentioned are a little before my time (I was born in 1980) but I still enjoyed learning about both of them and plan to look up some music on youtube.
Another excellent story penned by you!

The partridge family was my favorite show since I was 4yo. I had much older siblings and a 3 mins older twin so I related to Tracey. We sang all the songs and our mom bought us those ruffle tops. Shirley Jones was from near where my mom grew up in western PA too. I enjoyed reading this. Good writing!

I remember this program as it was also aired in Britain and you brought back a few memories here Harry. I remember loving the music as it was always upbeat and positive and I am glad you paid tribute to this joyous program and included a little information about what all these guys are doing now. I am glad they are still alive Harry, a fine post, love Dolly x x x

There is such a wealth of information here, Harry! Thank you so much for this trip down Memory Lane. They were certainly 'feel good' shows and, once you hear those songs, you'll be singing them for the remainder of the day/week. And those celebrity guest appearances - I remember Charlie's Angels! Well done, Harry! Debbie.
I believe the series and the music (were) so positive and had that (e)ffect on people of the day.
