A very thoughtful and insightful poem reflecting on the pain to another of one's own betrayal, and the burden of grief that brings. Your powerful poem with its strong, original, and imaginative imagery should do very well in the contest, and I send you my very best wishes.

I loved all the verses. Starting with each one, it only pulled me further into this broken and beating heart. I thankful, I was given a second chance to return to the true love of my life. To this day, I can not expunge the painful letter she sent me, saying I broke her heart into pieces and scattered it to the wind. This poem of love lost and betrayal strikes a chord I'm sure, not with me only. The flow and the weaving like a string of pearls. Memorable verse about not being able to fix his path of cracks on concrete. What a visual. Exceptional work even if you offered 2 cents.

The author's words are heartfelt, sad, honest and painful. I found the
poem to be filled with strong emotions, are descriptive, and creative. Thank you for the author's notes. I pondered on the words of this poem and thought about how all of us at times make poor choices. May the remorse expressed so well throughout these words bring healing.
Hi Jessica, this is an excellent poem! Maria

Hi Jessica,
This poem flows well with its rhymes at the end of each pair of tercets.
It fits the subject well. It shows how you broke a relationship that would have been good for you by picking at the relationship until it fell apart. How sad. It seems this is a long apology of a kind.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a good rest of the week.

Thank you, Jess, for sharing your deeply moving and pleasingly fluent verse in stanzas of 6-7-10. The end rhymes on the last line of each pair of stanzas also enhance fluidity. The story conveys your guilt at betraying someone who loved you, the burden you still carry and your concluding hope that he'll be finally released from the hurt caused to him. The verse is mesmerisingly beautiful. You have such a gift for engaging the reader fully in the complexities of emotion. My favourite stanza is #4. Well worthy of a six which sadly I don't have, this is a strong contender. And I wish you luck in the contest! Take care Debbie

A great poem for betrayal. I truly enjoyed reading this on such a real subject that many or all of us might experience at some time in our lives. Keep up the great work!

No, the pages can't be torn. Perhaps they shouldn't be. After all, who you are today is the sum total of all you have experienced. The good, the bad and the ugly. Thank you for your honesty. It's as refreshing as fields of clover.

We may break someone's heart without realising it or intending to harm, but we bear the weight of their grief sometimes. A deeply moving poem Jessica, love Dolly x x x
