Dear Carol,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing Mama rocked my world.
As you wrote here, so beautifully, Memories are much kinder than
Grief. And boy, do we need them! Thank you for sharing. I know
that wasn't easy.

May the memories of your mother sustain you.
Blessings, my friend.

Thanks so much, Sally. It's difficult not having my mom to talk to every day, but I must believe that her spirit is always watching over me, cheering me to move forward through the darkness. I so appreciate your kindness and thoughts.

Remember the happy times. It's what I do when grief tries to overwhelm me. Your story will touch many hearts as most of us can relate to the words you have written. Thank you for sharing your most cherished thoughts with us. It is beautifully written and flawless.

April, it's your month...bright and sunny, I hope. What a nice surprise to see you and also for the shiny stars, especially with this particular one. I hope you are doing okay. Have a great day!

I very much enjoyed listening to this. I like the way that you have grief and memories playing a part in the whole story how that they move from place to place with you. I know it's hard to lose someone you love and you lost your mother. But she's not lost forever. One day you will get to be with her and you can tell her all about the wonderful mother she is. Patricia.

When we lose loved ones, grief and memories do continue to haunt us. Although those loved ones will be in our hearts, and we'll be reunited with them in Heaven. Thank you for sharing this story with us.

I appreciate your thoughts and review. And you are right that grief and memories haunt us when we least expect it after losing someone we love. I hold fast to the thought "until we meet again."

Well written story, with great dialogue between the woman, grief, and memory. I like that you give the emotions personalities and voices. I'm sorry for your tears and pain today, and for the loss of your dear mother, but I hope the good memories are overshadowing your grief. Hugs & prayers. Carol

Thank you so much, Carol. Sometimes I think our emotions take hold because we miss our loved ones so much. I try to hold on to the thought "until we meet again".

Every time I think life is getting better and moving forward, I get hit with another memory and want it to be like it was...but I know that's not going to happen "until we meet again". My thoughts and prayers are with you too.

Relief washed over her as the door clicked shut, but once the house fell still, a coldness crept in, This is my favorite line in this story of emotions. A very heartfelt story Carol. I really liked reading this. Keep up the excellent work!

It seems during a funeral so many are around you trying to lift your spirits, tell you it will be better, and sharing their memories. Then when they all leave and get on with their lives, we find ourselves alone and everything is far too quiet.

Hi Carol, thank you for sharing this moment of gentleness with us. I can subscribe to your pain as I lost my dad to Ms. C. What stuck with me is this amazing image just goes beyond time and space:"A silence settled. Grief didn't press forward - he knew what was coming. Memory drifted like sand in an hourglass, letting brief flashes of laughter and soft hugs rise to the surface - small gifts, not too many at once." Thank you for sharing... and happy birthday.

My mother couldn't talk due to her stroke but she could mumble a bit and nod and squeeze my hand a bit harder to react. I did talking singing reading for both of us. I went through everything I could. I had to sneak and tell my sister I was on my way to her house because I lived far. She hardly allowed anyone to see my parents she became so controlling so I had to disappoint my old dad but I went to mom's hospital bed for the day. My sister was so upset when she showed up and my husband and I were in mom's room but the nurses were so happy i was there.

I'm glad you were there too! My brother didn't bother to show up until the last day and he came drunk. My mom pushed him away and said he only came because he thought he was getting money. It ripped my heart out for my mother.

I feel bad I lived hours from mom and my sister made her last days and my dad's after that way. No one could visit them due to my sister's control.

I'm so grateful you and I both were able to provide peace and love to our moms as we each could. 🙏

Oh no sad. My mom had a sespis infection in my mom's car and sued thd doctor and hospital. She asked for all our signatures and no one signed. All of sibling went into packs like wolves. One stayed South 2 went overseas and I was disabled only drove with my husband and I lived far. She hid my parents address at one point. She had them on cameras and checked by phone from 2 miles away.

When my mom talked more she whispered she wished she could have aborted my sister. My mom of 5 plus I'm a twin was saying if she knew how cruel my sister would be she wouldn't have brought her into the world. She must have told my sister that herself and that is when my sisters care for her got worse. I talk with no siblings one died ftom cancer before my 100 yo dad even did and all the siblings are split. It tells me how my parents love kept us all together in the first place. When we have closeness with aging parents even when they die they know they are loved. Possibly our mom's write stories together in Heaven 🙏 ❤️
Mom cooked day and night in life but she did encourage Mt art and writing.

My mom supported my efforts and made me promise to continue writing and publish after she passed away. She was a driving force (though very quiet) in our family and now our family has fallen into shreds. So many have passed and I am the oldest...but I don't see the others very much. It's so sad...certainly not what my Mom would have wanted nor what God expects from us.
reply by Alexandra Trovato on 02-Apr-2025
Exactly. I'm the youngest and my dad and mom were born in 1919 and 1931. So I cam very much relate to you. I think softer kids who write or draw as I did, do bless parents. Well we must live on to share our arts as they watch us express ourselves and are proud.

    Have a good day. Friend,

    Alex
