There has to be a special place in Go'd heart for people who hold onto and treasure the things that gave them comfort and closure through their years of becoming adults. Show me someone with that kind of mindset and I will show you a decent, caring human being.

An amusing story about Scooby Doo. Your son was undoubtedly right when he said because of his size, no one would question him carrying Scooby Doo. How nice that you got it all fixed up for him. I don't know how you could work the caterpillar story in smoothly. Maybe you could contrast the difference between carrying around a caterpillar and a Scooby Doo. You don't need to capitalize high school unless you're referring to a particular one. judi

Stephen had the confidence (and size) to carry it off. At my school when the Year Sevens went on camp, everyone was required to bring along a stuffed toy - that was so the ones who did need that security did not feell embarrassed. It was always fun to see them.

You must have had very interesting vacations if you traveled around the country to see family. Was it Steven's idea to take Scooby Doo along on vacation? He was a really big high school student. Whose project was the tadpole?

Thank you for understanding. Yes, Steven had Scooby Doo by him in the car. Sometimes on the trip he used him as a pillow. LOL

I love old toys, myself, so I can understand how special Scooby Doo has become. I also really admire your son's indifference to carrying it for all to see, no matter what his size or age. Shows a very self-assured young man. A delightful, nostalgic story. Thank you, Barbara. Take care Debbie

That is a great Scooby Doo story, Barb. We had a funeral for my teddy bear - his name was George - when I was seven or eight years old. He was beyond repair.

Oh, memories!!! I think everyone in our family has had one or two stuffed animals or objects including a baby blanket that they have clung to throughout childhood and into adulthood. My youngest had My Pet Monster (a big ugly blue thing) and Hulk Hogan.... He still displays all his Hulkamania stuff in a family room in his basement...and of course My Pet Monster is there (regardless of howmany wrestling matches he had to endure with the Hulk). I loved your story with Steve...and it goes to show that certain things from childhood carry a far deeper meaning.
Smiles, Carol

This was a cute story. I was the one in the family that liked animated friends. I still have my Zebra somewhere.
I wrote tome about the small print we keep seeing and he sent this:

This story is such a delightful read! Steven's confidence carrying Scooby Doo into the hotel had me grinning! And his response was priceless! And I love that you took the time to repair Scooby Doo and give him a second life. I have no doubt that Scooby will remain a cherished part of the family for years to come.

Your story reminds me of my sister, she had a black stuff cat, Felix, that was carrying around. My mom was forced to hide so she will not carry that poor kitty until she got old. Me on the other hand, I had a night lamp that was coming with me everywhere I will go.
