Let me begin this review by assuring you that your poem does not seem stiff at all! Your rhymes fell right in place with the meter. It is a shame that you missed the contest, for it would have been stiff competition for a winning entry. It is one degree outside right now, I wish Jack would hit the road right now.

Thanks so much summergirl! Very ironic, your name, with 1 degree temps where you are at present, eh? So tell Jack VERY LOUDLY to git on outta there and come right back here! xoxoxoxoxo

I don't find this stiff at all. It is fun and well done. You did a lovely job of personifying old Jack. With the temperature at 20 degrees and falling, I can honestly say, he is out here in the Berkshires at the moment.

Nice work...Peace, L

Well, send him back to the Australians right away!

I'm glad you didn't find this stiff, but in the past when I've done tight syllable count poems I've had the odd comment! So thanks so much for stopping by and as said, I'm happy you enjoyed this xoxoxoxo

AlapacaLady - This quite a delightful poem. Great rhyme and certainly great rhythm. The photo is a perfect match for the poem. I enjoyed it. Charlie.

Good on you Diana! Tip that toddy his way and tease the sneaky little sucker. And ain't we all sorry to see him go? For it means hot, dry days and out there working in 'em, sweating like pigs ... Thanks so much for stopping by xoxoxoxox

This was a light whimsical view of winter. Your poem read very fluidly to me and your words seemed unforced and smooth. A great picture to go with his delightful verse. Terror

This is a cheerful reading, and as I sit by the fireplace with snow outside my window, I do want to send him back. Poem does not seem stilted in its four syllable format, and the rhyme is good. Thanks for sharing in light of missing the contest. LadyMary

alpacalady,

No problem, you can have Jack back. We have about 5 or 6 months of his presence to look forward to. Cute poem and brought a chuckle at the end.

Good job.

Duane

Thanks Duane, glad it brought you a chuckle! Winter sure can be a drag, but then I think summer's worse cause it's back to working and sweating out there and then only being able to do a few hours in the morning and early evening. Oh well. The same season all year round'd be a tad boring I spose ...

As said, thanks so much! xoxoxoxo
