You did a good job, Beth. I enjoyed reading this chapter. So much of it centered on women and the workplace. I agree with you on all points. You expressed your thoughts and feelings well. The last part about the tree was funny--I'm sure not then, though. I hate being late and/or having to wait on others.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you for the review and the comment. I'm glad you liked this and saw the humor. It wasn't funny then but it pretty funny now.

I've never completely written off a car, although it's been many years since I had an accident. My wife has an even better record than myself, but I certainly remember the accidents I've had in the past. Beautifully written Beth, thanks for sharing your life with us. Well done, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy. Our insurance had written off three of them but I was only responsible for one. One was my daughter who wrecked it and the other someone ran into the back of my car.

Opposites attract, such as my husband and myself. Sometimes drastic things are required to make an impression. I fully understand and love your story. Have a wonderful day. Shirley

Excellent story. Very well written.
I only wish you'd wrecked the car the first time, maybe clip husband's knee in the doing.
"Honey, maybe you'd better not go to bed tonight. That way you can have all night long to get ready to leave on time in the morning."
Best of luck with your book.

Thank you Wayne. Maybe that is what I should have told him. I still insist on being on time or early for everything but these day I move a little slower so I have to get an early start.

Beth, I can so relate to this. I didn't have to worry about getting to work in our earlier years of marriage, but my husband was seldom ready to go anywhere on time. Still, when he was ready to go to a destination of his choosing, everybody better be in the car. He once took out a picket fence. lol It's too bad it took a smashed car before your husband realized you needed to get to work on time. Great story.

Thank you Judy. I've not knocked down any trees lately and I no longer have to punch a clock, but I'm still never late unless I have wait on some slowpoke.

Hell Bethshelby a Wonderful Wednesday to you. I hope this finds you well. I enjoyed your story it was well written and very relatable. I too hate being late (on time=late) I'm almost always early and waiting for slow pokes annoy me to no end. Good job.

Thank you for a great review and comments that show you like being late either. I don't react quite as strongly any more. I'm still never late but I have to start earlier because I move a little slower.

Aw, Beth, I was with you all the way there. I remember having all those problems. We wives worked so the bills could be paid without having the family go hungry, but no husband would admit to that fact. I can quite understand you losing your cool, so would I have done. I enjoyed reading this, my friend, even though I was angry with Evan and your boss. I'm glad it's a bit better now, though there is still a lot of room left for improvement when it comes to women's wages. :) Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. I think most people who have a hang-up about being late or worked in those days when there sacrifice was unappreciated can relate.

I really enjoyed this story! The detail you put into describing your family dynamic is exceptional and really made the story work! I loved that the story is more about the desire to be on time than it is about the accident.
Very well written, it is humorous and relatable. It feels like a memory that is now able to be looked upon fondly rather than what was probably a terrible day when it happened.
Well done thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for the review. I'm glad you saw that now after all these years, it has become a humorous story. I still resent anyone making me, late but I'm not likely to react in such a violent way. LOL

Hello, once again:

Boy, do you take me back to the good ole' days (provided you where a white male). I share the same philosophy on rather being a few minutes early opposed to being late. Losing one's temper is something you pride yourself on. On closing, I love the last paragraph!

Take care,

Ray

Thank you Ray. I really appreciate the six stars but I'm sorry it is no longer paying points or member money. Those were days. I'm glad you can identify.

I hate to be late for anything. I think I would self destruct if I had to share my ride everyday with the family. I usually use the drive time to get my thoughts together. I enjoyed the story and your story telling skills are wonderful. Nicely done.

Thank you for the review and the nice comments. I think a lot of people identify with me but some are just like my husbands.
