We've never owned a dishwasher Beth. I grew up being the main washer of dishes when young, I'm not sure how long it was for, but Elaine and I are the same today. My daughters however, own dishwashers, and are very clever and seem organised in their households, there husbands don't seem to function, I help where I can, beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy. You are one of the good guys that a wife is lucky to have. I have no need of a dishwasher any more. My husband was the one who messed up most of the dishes so it is right he saw to it they were clean.

Bless you and bless your late husband, Beth. This funny tale really made me laugh, and I can so relate to it. Both my ex husbands are very domestic orientated. I could never complain in that department.
You really do put a smile on my face.
I know that you do miss your late husband. A hug, Ulla:)))

Beth, This is a very well written post about the better dishwasher loader. I can truly understand this. My husband seems to think I can't do much some days he thinks and some days he is so right! I am truly blessed. Thanks for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

You are so lucky to have such a man in your life!
My husband would never think of doing 'Woman's work' and never did. He never changed a diaper either, but saying that, he never missed a day's work or took a vacation either. Even after he retired he found another job because he had to have some place to go every morning. He was a great provider. LOL Well done, Beth. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy. All men have their on things they are best at doing. My husband probably wouldn't have done it either if had belived the dishes were getting clean the way I jammed them it. Also we wouldn't have had so many to wash if he hadn't grabbed a new plate and fork everytime he went through the kitchen. LOL

Loved it! It's strange how we don't recognize all the wonderful things they can do for us until they aren't there to it. It's the little things that were taken for granted.

I hated loading the dishwasher too.... now it's a waste of time.

Have a great day!
Smiles and hugs, Carol

Thank you Carol. I imagine with your catering business you had plentty of experience loading it. There is only me now and I don't cook so I don't need many dishes and I don't mind them being hand washed.

Thank you for re-posting this one. I am so sorry I missed it the first time around, but happy I caught it this time. My husband won't allow anything to touch in the dishwasher so there is a lot of unused space. Hmmm. One of my son's decided my spice rack needed to be ordered alphabetically. I prefer the order to the most used to the least used. MALES!!!! I enjoyed reaing.

Thank you Barbara. I'm pretty sure male brains are arranged differently than female brains. Sometimes it works better their way and sometime it just doesn't.

What a clever and humorous story, Beth. It's sweet as you look at what all he did/attempted to do for you, and your response to him. I didn't know you had lost your husband. I would ask you what sort of person he was, but you've provided that for us.

I'm glad you decided to repost this one.

Take care,
Rhonda

Thank you Ronda. My husband had many wonderful qualities and I miss him. He was less outgoing than I am and he had some hangups. He got more dishes our everything he went though the kitchen which is why we had so many dishes to go in the dishwasher in the first place. I'm so gald you found my story humorous. I apparciat all the stars.

I do the same thing, generally wash the few dishes I uses. Sometimes, I put them in the dishwasher until I get enough to warrant turning it on. I've learned over the years that men and women don't load it up the same way.

Thank you for the review. There are many things men and women don't do the same way. They don't even think the same way but I they can work with your or around you, as my husband used to say. we are lucky to have them.

I really enjoy reading this well written post. It reminded me of how differently my husband and I organize and brought a smile. He had retired and taken over cleaning the house while I was still substitute teaching. I think the house said, "What's going on here?" One day I came home from school, and he had completely reorganized the pantry. I was not happy at all. I redid it. That Sunday our pastor said as a sideline in his sermon, "One thing I've learned is that it's never a good idea to reorganize my wife's pantry." My husband and I just grinned.

Thank your Verna. My husband organized my pantry and my dishes as well. He retired before I did and tried to help before he discoved things he was more interested in doing.

My dishwasher is 12-years-old and has never been used. It came in the new house. I know it's silly, since the dishwasher water is hotter than from the sink, but I've just never felt I could truth them. So, I wash ever piece by hand and always have. Of course, I'm alone and don't have anyone else to do it. But even when there was someone, I preferred to do it myself. LOL. Silly old man. Hooray for your husband, and it sure didn't make him any less manly. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank Ric. I appreciate the review and comments. Who needs a dishwasher. I needed one when Evan was alive, because he got a new plate and silverware every time he walked in the kitchen. He never thought rinsing one off to reuse was sanitary, LOL
