This was very entertaining. I loved her fantastic story for being late and her excuse for yesterday's dress. The last line was a great surprise ending. Well done.

Carol, this was wonderful.
It reminded me of the movie
"Roger Rabit" --you know the
language and the way your
lines played out. Just excellent
and a fun read. Good luck with the
contest. no nits or spags. Lora

A great tribute to "brown-nosing"! Very entertaining Carol, a fun read. And as always, SO well written!! I saw one thing that I am not sure of how to spell? Wanttabe? Should it be wannabe? I may be wrong. But no big deal, I need a six! :) Hugs to you!! Susan

    Susan,

Those elusive sixes just slip away...but friendship is hear to stay...so I accept that as better payment for sure. Smiles, Carol

This is very clever. I enjoyed it immensely. You made me chuckle several times and the ending got me laughing out loud. Great entry for the contest and I sincerely wish you all the best.

I love it. I needed you around when I worked to think up excuses. Those excuses were really good. It sounds like Peter wasn't quit as good at coming up with the right ones. I love that guys name. The mailroom boy really murdered it. It reminds me of when my daughter asked her boss if he ridden the gonorrhea during the world fair. We had a gondola ride in town.

Good story for this prompt. I also believe I have worked with this crew. They seem to get around.

Good luck in the contest.

I am shocked that Frankie hasn't made an appearance on St. Patrick's Day. I expected that wee little man antics to be covering my computer today. This is a great short story and I enjoyed reading it.

    Barbara,

After writing the St. Paddy's Day story last week, I thought it might be overload with another one. Smiles, Carol

Oh, this was fun.

I have walked in a room just like our heroine and brazened it out.

Have found it usually works.

Of course, it didn't hurt that this women seem gorgeous.

Men have a very hard time firing eye-candy.

But, I prefer to think it was because she had brass balls and brazened it out.

Man, she must have been addled to wear the same dress twice in a row. She sure came up with a good story, saved her butt.

Oh Carol, you are just so darn good!!
Wonderful humour with the names of all those staff members and your snappy dialogue. Also her amazing account of why she was late in with his coffee. I could just see this as a script in a sit com.
I absolutely romped through this and loved every word. Your writing never fails to entertain me, and if I had had a 6 left, it would have been yours.
First entry I have read. The rest must be afraid, VERY afraid. LOL.
Best wishes. Sally

    Sally,

I doubt they were shivering in their boots...Too few people actually vote in those contests...Think they should post it on the front page, reminding those who had read earlier...Oh well, it was fun to write. Smiles, Carol

I think your suggestion of having a reminder on the front page is a good one. I do try to remember to look at the voting booths on a regular basis, but sometimes slip up, especially when there is one a day of voting. If I recall, this was one you didn't win, but a great story nonetheless. Best wishes to you. Sally
