This is a fine poem and a fine subject to write about. I spent a lot of time in Australia and I have great respect for your countrymen. I know how many Australian still agonise over this period in your history, however us Brits are hardly innocent in the things they have done to other races. Don't be too hard on yourselves. Most Countries have skeletons in their cupboards. At least there was no slavery in Australia.

Best Wishes
Keith

No, you are right about that. But we must never forget, and learn from our mistakes. Thanks for reviewing and your generous rating. Warmest regards, Marijke

This is a very sad story about that 'dark' time in Australia's history. A few years back I viewed a video, Rabbit Proof Fence, which gives a personal and emotional account of this era.

Good write. Sorry you missed the deadline. I believe you would have done well.

This is a very well written, very sad tale indeed. Your wording read very easily and it is a shame you missed the contest deadline, I think this is quite good.

Oh this is a sad, sad story and you captured it magnificently in your well structured and metered poem. How can people be so cruel. I just don't get it. I never will. My heart bleeds for these people, for their heritage, and for their pain.

What a touching piece of artwork there are so many stories can be told by that photo alone.
I truly applause you for this heart warming poem. You express so much compassion as you write. I was truly moved

Hi, Marijke, what a pathetic story of the aborigin babies. I'm glad such a practice does not happen anymore. You've related this in a moving way in this 'lonely poem'. It's a pity you don't get a spot in the contest.

I do not know what it is like to be a mother, or to give birth to a child. But, I do understand the pain, the agony of losing someone that you cannot hold anymore. May not be the exact same feelings but altogether it is pain. This poem showed sincerity and seriousness to a crime that took a long time to fix. It angers me that people have actually done such a cruel thing to family.

What a pity you didn't make the contest as this poem had to be a strong contender. It is so tragic what happened to those children and my heart aches for the parents.

I know this was happening in some parts of the world, but not there, well written, and so sorry you did not get it in for the contest, or did you, I will check, no errors and no revisions, and a story that did need told.

How awful! I've heard of things like that, where people to took children, because they had none of their own. But this, is a new level!

This happened in the fifties/sixties/seventies, doesn't happen now. But of course, many of these have not found their families again. The repercussions go on a long time. Thank you for your review and generous rating. Warmest regards, Marijke
