Awesome job. I learned some things about sled dogs here. This must be grueling for animals and sled person. I could find no errors in this piece. What a beautiful picture.

Great chapter, your description of the dog-sled races was terrific! The cold, clear day, the teams forming up, the excited yips of the dogs, gave us a front-row seat at a sport that very few of us have been privileged to witness.
You caught the excitement of the spectators, and the grit and determination of the drivers.
The interplay between Brooke and James, the emotions, the dialogue, was exactly how it would go between two teenagers.
Amy was a great counterpoint to both of them, exuberant and vocal.
Very good plot with enough complications to keep me reading.
Cheers, irish

Dearest Irish, you give this short novel a truly encouraging send-off. My next step is to process it through CreateSpace on Amazon for a paperback and Kindle e-book. Thanks a million for this fabulous review! luv, Marie

Unfortunately I am out of 6's and this most definitely deserves a six. I enjoyed this very, very much and do hope you plan to publish this. My granddaughter lives in Seattle and her dream is to move to Alaska and be in the Iditarod Race. If you publish plan to send her a copy of this wonderful book.

What delightful news about your daughter and her liking for dogs. I plan to do the simple publishing thing through Amazon's CreateSpace and Kindle. I am satisfied with a small market and not searching for a publisher. To have 'dog' in the title, I think I'll name the novel "Whispers to a Deaf Dog". Thanks a million for reviewing. Marie

Wonderful and uplifting story. The reader feels like a winner. I hope this is attractive to an agent or publisher. You can write for a young audience and me too. Enjoyed the details and descriptions of the race and the dogs. Stan

I'm far too lazy to fuss with finding publishers. A small audience with self-publishing (CreateSpace through Amazon) is plenty for me. Thanks a million, Stan, for reading so many chapters and reviewing. Marie

I'm going to be at Bob (Masterys) family reunion today. He is another one who is so good but has yet to land a publisher. It is job in itself to find one willing to give u a shot.

    Take care

Been a long day. I had to do some of my own work tonight. I got to see Bob and all of his brothers and sisters who are part of his book. They love getting together because they had lost so much of there childhood. I'm not supposed to say too much because there will be a great summary when he does his epilogue. Take care. stan

This is an interesting story, interspersed with good dialogue. Thanks for sharing it here.

I would change this... With a loud cry, Amy jumps madly about. "James is the first one to come in." to ...

"James is the first one to come in," Amy cries, jumping up and down.

Good work. Keep going and good luck.

cheers
js

You are so right, js. I'll make that change so it's clear what the 'loud cry' was. Ha! Thanks for the review. Marie

Alaskastory, this is a great story. I love watching the dog sled races. I have owned an alaskan malamute in the past, which, unfortunately, was stolen from our yard. It had beautiful blue eyes like the picture you have here. They and Huskys, etc. are such beautiful creatures. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I'm delighted to know you like the story, but so sorry your dog was taken away. My heart goes out to you. They become so much a big part of our family. Thanks for the review. Marie
