It seems everyone has that one special dog. No matter how many other dogs you get through out your life, you never quite feel the same intense love for them. I had Claire, a beagle. I used to joke that she was my spinster sister. She hung out with me, helped me watch the children. It was like a kinship that we had. I still feel her loss. Thanks for posting and making me think of her again.

Everyone needs a good companion. That photograph shows a kind and gentle dog. Sorry to read about her passing. You must miss her dearly. Hope you get another great pet. Good work.

I'll remember that when you write about your new goldfish. Goodnight :)

I enjoyed reading this poem just to hear about this loyal friend. I liked the line with the sloppy kiss. I could feel the wet tongue of the dog with that one. They are indiscriminate kissers. LOL :) `Yona

liked this a lot treischel. the style is interesting and effective and you got your message across well using it. even though it's been many years since i put sam to sleep, i still remember her sad eyes looking in mine when i told the vet, okay.
one of the hardest things i've ever done. i've found cats pretty good friends as well over the years. that's one good looking hound.

Thank you hifien. You brought tears to my eyes as I remember that day so well. I cried for hours afterward, and I hardly ever cry. The only consolation was that she went peacefully and her suffering was over.
