Well,we have our own ways to create and visualise our yards.
They are sort of your own creative space where you can have your imagination bloom.it is like a live poetry.
But each yard is beautiful and complete in itself.

;) My first reaction is that this can be summed up nicely with 'Yup. This yard here isn't much to look at, but its MY yard.'
I like how you are opening up and telling us more about your thoughts and feelings. Your real ones. I know how easy it is to hide behind characters and stories. Being real isn't easy. 'Baby Megs' taught me that. First I felt like I was putting my diary up for everyone to read. Then I wondered who would want to read this? Would they feel like it was a waste of time? So easy to doubt yourself and your writing when you put yourself out there like this.
So my hat is off to you. Keep up the great work!

Thanks again for the insightful advice. I was very nervous about my little rants. But I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained. You need to put more about the hassles and rewards of being a Dr.'s wife. I'm sure it ain't all glamour. Thank you for the wonderful review. Gretchen

I enjoyed reading this. Yards bring a lot of frustration and joy to homeowners. My own yard s very tiny, so I don't have a lot of work to do in it.

We all have different yards to work with. I picture yours as a beach type of yard. I love the idea of having a porch swing. You could have a nice display of yard ornaments. I enjoyed reading this topic and hope you can find your own unique yard style.

I call my unique style getting ready for Halloween. That's the only time my yard gets people to stop and stare. We really decorate for the neighborhood. Thanks for the great review. Gretchen

Just wondering when It became so all important to have a beautiful yard. I wonder if we are insulting our heavenly Father redoing his landscape to suit our idea of beauty. I saw a wild flower once that looked just like a butterfly. It may have been a licorice plant, I really don't remember but, Hey, It outshines any hybrid I have ever seen. LOL Kids are the best decoration anyhow. Right? LOL Nancy

I can relate to your every word, as I live on a hill that was formed years ago by blow sand (sand that shifts easily from one place to another if not covered, at least by
weeds--no such thing as good grass here). I struggle to grow the simplest of flowers, yet cantaloupe and watermelon thrive. But the hill is my own, and I have no neighbors within half a mile. So, like you, I can sit on my deck and be thankful that my son was raised here.
A well-written, enjoyable read.

Yes, a beautiful non-fiction article, made more interesting with the use of the metaphor lipstick on a pig. The yard may not be comparable to well manicured gardens with exquisite blooms. but a yard no matter how sparse, devoid of beauty, is still the most beautiful garden, because it keeps beautiful memories, the sole witness to growing up kids playing in that garden, and the love that goes with it. I love it, well done.

The barrier islands have a special charm. Live oak, pine, lantana, sea oats. More than that will be stunted or killed by the salt air anyway. Every place has it's own special beauty. Why destroy it by trying to make it something it's not? Better you enjoy your wine and your tidied up parcel of heaven the way God intended it. Well organized and clearly written. Good job. :) Nancy

excellent descriptive detail - I can imagine your humble little sandy yard and the view you have from your porch, and I can feel the love you have for your home, even if the good folks from Better Homes and Gardens are not standing at alert :-) Brooke
