Amen. We have a generation that has been given so much and think that someone owes it to them and the parental side seems to condone what is happening. Very good piece. God loves you and I do too.

I liked the art work and words.

Times are tough in schools all over the world.

School years for our children are so important

The rich get richer, the poor, poorer.

Maybe the rich should be made to help now.

Honey tree

Times are tough for everyone to live and feed their children.

oh yeah! this is damn well written. agree or disagree matters not. it puts the question out there with a point of view and puts it out there with intelligence. let the debate begin and a clever slogan won't cut it. this is the perfect use of the little prompt you started with. well done. mike

The principal, Tony Whitmore, - add second comma
you convey well the inner thoughts of this embittered principal after he blurts out something controversial
strong social commentary that definitely is thought provoking - there is only so much money to distribute, and some people make the government stretch that money way more than they should have to. I actually used to think this when my kids were in public school. I would wonder how much less money my kids cost the educational system than the ones who were constantly in trouble and in need of counselors and disciplinarians and parole officers. All the money spent on that stuff is not spent on new text books and high tech computer labs and cutting edge educational methods, all things that prepare our children for college and/or the workplace. You make a strong point, and I like that you put it in the form of a story instead of just writing a rant. Brooke

Wow! Tony for President! A cry in the wilderness. The population has been trained to be lazy and dependent. Who cares? No one speaks out like this anymmore. Kudos. You should win the contest. Nancy

This is well written. I like the message it conveys for each of us to stand on our own feet and not depend on government hand-outs. I don't like the ending but it's not my story. Good job.

Six stars, and a big amen to everything your Principal Whitmore said. He spoke the truth, and we need someone like that to speak out just like that. The parents didn't care where the money to support the schools comes from, and most of them probably weren't contributing anything in taxes. He has dealt with parents who attack him for attempting to discipline their unruly children and seen students receiving school lunches who wear expensive sneakers. I have heard reports that a city council member said she had heard that it was actually the police who were responsible for the shooting of black youngsters. They are no longer taking any responsibility. Bravo to you, and I think I'd like to bookcase this for future reference. by the way, I don't think you really need to mention the principal's cheating wife. Your story is powerful enough. judiverse

Thank you very much. I think you are right. The wife is not needed. I think I added it to show that even Tony has problems in life, but perhaps a cheating spouse is too much.

Bravo! Loud applause! This is the most uplifting story I've ever read. More people like Tony must start speaking up and place responsibility where it belongs! On the parents, yes, but even more so on the unions that are destroying education and the government that is destroying the family, self-reliance, and the nature of what once was a nation of hard-working, responsible citizens.

Send this to every newspaper and online columnist and blogger you can find! We have to be heard! Thanks for having the courage to speak the truth!
