Sad but true lines on the displacement and in some cases demise of species. Good use of alliteration with S sound. Last line has only four syllables. I suggest adding "now" before "thrives".

I can't, since it is a five/seven/five syllable count. Real is two, estate is two, and thrives is one. None the less thank you for the review.
-
I thought real was one, sorry.

In many ways, the eagles are meant to be revered.
But mankind has made it impossible to allow them regions in which they too can thrive and enjoy their portion of life.

I love the sentiment of this wonderful work. How disturbing an event (that is becoming more commonplace) you are describing. The solution? Who knows! Our population is increasing and the planet can only endure so much growth. This is a sad tale of one type of "home" crowding out another. It made me sad, yet prompted me to think and feel deeply. Good luck!

It's actually illegal to take the trees down that have nests, but a lot of contractors just ignore the law or just pay the fine in order to "carry" on their construction. Thank you for the review!

you are just kidding...it is sad what we have done to all our wildlife...like they mean nothing...where my parents live the Eagles nest are on the top of cement poles way up high...no thing can get to them...love your poem and your notes are great...

In the area where I live the eagles are fighting back. Some have been spotted on a local golf course. Your words and picture are a stark reminder that balance is needed. Best to you with the entry.

Thank you, Jean. A friend of mine lived next door to a property where they nested every year, and a developer came in and took down all the trees. She had actually told them of the one tree being an eagles nesting area, but they didn't pay any attention to her. She was devastated. I think it was illegal for them to take it down also. Thus, this poem which is for my friend.

I think maybe sometimes other factors cause them to relocate. The summer before Hurricane Isaac there was a nest near where I live. So far no return although the tree was left intact.

Your 5-7-5 has a strong environmental message. The contrast between the lush green forests of yesteryear, and the land called real estate, couldn't be starker. The link is the endangered icon of American strength, the bald eagle - a very poignant message.

It is so sad that man has infringed on the natural habitat of such beautiful creatures as the eagle, bear, and mountain lions now they have become the enemy of their own dwellings.

Thank you, and it is sad that sometimes simple things are ignored by contractors, even when people show the nests.
