That's it Mikey. Never give up and listen to your heart. In the end, you will be answering to God, not a human. You got heart, Lion King and I applaud you for your stubborness, a little arrogance. You are , who you are. Like Conan the Barbarian's father said. You can only trust this. He was pointing at the sword in his hand. Bravo! You stuck to your guns and I'm sure your life loved you that much more. The wedding vows say, 'till death does us part. Count your doubloons, Lion KIng, you earned them for being a hero. wackydo

I will skip the hundreds of reviews... Hahaha!!! Appreciate the kind words. This started out about something else then I realized that it was about my wife. Funny when a piece does that. It just takes over and says "we're going this way." Check your mail. Posting tonight? You left me in the middle of an inferno!!!! mikey

I could post already, It is almost spagless. However, I'm doing some reviewing to collect them cent pumps. Why pay, when you can get them free. It does put me in a delima, putting me behind. That is the sacrifice. I get a laugh every time I think of your birds. Come on ! come on! didn't one Macaw say that. I forget which one it was. Woo---you got a heap of reviews. Did your Macaw's ever repeat curse words, lie in Cahill roasted. SOB! SOB! LOL!

My African Grey, Doc, that passed away last year, called me "Shithole". Hahaha. She only called me that and nobody else. She said it real sweet like it was a damn compliment or something. I don't know where she got it from. When we had our shop we had a bird that would yell out "I'm human!" when someone approached his cage. He sang Bad Boys from Cops.

Oh, my gosh! That is hilarious! I'm giggling, how did he get shithole! Bad boys, that sounds funny. Did you have a TV in the store? I'm human, what a sense of humor. I was merely guessing, about Michael Cahill roasted. remember the part about the bird cussing. I got to get busy and get me some cent pumps.

Mikey, this Non-Fiction Writing Contest entry is transparent and exposes that part of your life that is a trial that fortunately worked out. Codependency is a strange thing. I'm glad that Jesus never gave up on me, and I don't mind being codependent on Him. He is the true rescuer for us all. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

Kudos to your wife for her resurrection. Kudos to you for your faith in her. This could well be a story about my daughter who married a man who convinced he had the talent to make it big in Hollywood. She supports him with a high paying job, convinced that at forty-three his filmmaking/actor/cartoon artist will make real money.

Wonderful story of hope and patience Mikey. Everyone should be as lucky to find someone to stand by them no matter what. Smacks of true love and devotion. And no cause is lost until you give up and walk away from it.

options in your partner's mind - add apostrophe for possessive
Fear not, darling - add comma for direct address
Good use of personal experience to prove your point and convey your message. I guess it is always a fine line. For instance, I always supported my husband's dream to be a fine-art photographer because I absolutely recognized his talent. But I also realized he had to help pay our bills, something he failed to realize. Someone has to be the person in a relationship who gives it a reality check and says, while you're pursuing your dream and working on your art portfolio, you also need to bring home a paycheck. Having two pipe dreamers in the same relationship can result in living on the street :-) Brooke

Mikey, I agree with you - when love enters the picture, there's no time limit on faith. Your wonderful essay should be part of college curriculum. People give up so easily these days it seems, and everything you write I here simply points out that real love endures.
Blessings, my friend. Good luck in the contest.

This is so very affecting, emotional and courageous. I applaud both you and your wife for having shared it. I know many people will be inspired by your words, as so many have gone through similar circumstances. Perhaps because it was so personal, it lacked a bit of the lyrical, rollicking quality of many of your pieces. But again, this is so understandable given the content. Again, my admiration for being so generous as to share this piece of yourself. I know it will encourage so many readers.

Moving words. You make several good points and make us all look at ourselves, our dreams and the people who share our lives. Faith is important, for many things and yours was strong, perhaps that strength spread. Chasing the dream doesn't have to be the only thing we do. Well done.

Mike, you have share something close to your heart, thereby touching this reviewer in a special way. The mantra, "Never give up, " has gotten people through illness, accidents, and depression. It speaks of the depth of your love for your wife, and her for you. Patience, devotion and understanding love along with God's presence can change lives. This deserves a six, but I have to wait until tomorrow to fill my pocket with them again. Blessings to both of us.

Mikey, I'm sorry I just gave away my last sixer, because this is most definitely a six-worthy piece. I think you and I are cut from the same cloth, too, as I'm a rescuer by nature, and many don't understand how I can devote so much of my life to my Dad. For fourteen years, I've done so, and I don't regret it one bit. Much respect and love for and to you, brother, for what you've done, what you do, and how you do it.
