This is very good. Losing our natural resouces is truely a nightmare. You told it effectively in your poem and showed what we miss when we destroy our environment.

This meets the contest requirements beautifully! The meter and rhyme flow solidly throughout making for an enjoyable read. Your nightmare is certainly a very real possibility if mankind keeps consuming the way he does. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Thank you for your kind words and generous rating. I, like many others, worry about our kids future. All we can do, is teach them how to respect Mother Earth.

The saddest part about this poem is the truth it contains.

Our progress is not enriching this world it is destroying it. Our biological history is being sacrificed so that we can have a few extra little pleasures. We are in fact destroying the ecological balance.

Your grandfather had it right.

A powerful reminder to us all. Good luck in the contest

Great poem about a hugely important topic. Your description of your grandfather's home is beautiful. the descriptions are quite visual---and the question you asked at the end timely. Thanks! Caroline

Your story makes me think of Dr. seuss and the Lorax...The book, like your tell, was all about saving nature in some way. I've seen the cartoon version on tv...but I do believe it was a book first...

Great advice, about nature, and I do believe when you are talking about the Earth as a planet it is capted. If you refer to it as soil, like earth soil, its not capted.

Thank you for your kind words and generous rating. And, you're right. It does have similarities to the Lorax. I hadn't really thought about it.

Must agree with the poet. Man destroys everything in the name of a dollar. Well done, poet. Hope you success in the contest. Thanks for sharing.

One of the reasons I try to take my 6-year-old
granddaughter with me as often as I can when I
take nature pictures is I want her to see as many
animals and plants in their natural setting prior to
man destroying them.
no wonder this is your worst nightmare
good luck in the contest

I think Mother Nature will win in the end, and us humans should be more respectful. In case there's anyone who hasn't noticed, she can be a real bitch when she's angry.
