Congratulations for your first Win! It is a thrill to be on top of your game. I loved it, you brought the reader to America and Hollywood boulevard. Not big fans of hot-dogs here, mad on meat pies instead! It was good to read a happy-go-lucky poem. Well done.

Yes, Aussie, you should write a poem about how you are made about meat pies. Thank you for your review and congratulations.

Very, very good.
Loved it.
Honest, simple feelings.
Nostalgic. (naturally)
How could it be otherwise?
Wished I was there with you,
sharing the food, lemonade,
and memories.
Good job.

Oh, thank you, victortouche, for your review and compliments. The last I looked, Skooby's was still on Hollywood Boulevard.

This ode, Hot dogs, French Fries, Lemonade!, reads well, and sounds great. Your insert of an open mike night was a great idea to give an example of your poem's powerful reach back to sweet memories.

Yes, Bill, my repost of my poem from two years ago caused me to salivate so much that I submitted it to Dryland Literary Art Journal this morning. I love that poem. Readers love that poem. Audiences love that poem. I want to see it in a print journal.
Thank you for your delicious, encouraging review.

Andre, what a lovely and carefree poem. Living at the Med in Spain I can imagine, your surroundings of your simple meal. In Fact I know Southern California so very well. Flew into LA every month during twenty years. Anyway, smells, sound and surroundings easily bring back happy memories. An unusual poem, and I liked it!. All the best. Ulla:))

I really enjoyed this poem. I love the artwork that accompanied it. I have a 35 year old lemon tree and at everyone's beck and call have to create lemon meringue pie, lemon cheesecakes and lemon sponge cake. I make the worlds best lemonade I am told and who am I to argue. Well done and good luck.

Your poem flowed like you were conversing with a friend. You kept the reader, me, very interested. I really like the way you wrote we ate our fries, one at a time, it made me feel I was there eating french fries with you guys.

I could see this without a picture. That is how good this is. Great art work to go along side this. I could smell the lemons and hotdogs great job. GB

Thank you, GB, for your generous, six star review. I often write my poem first so that the reader can see, smell, hear, touch, and even taste what I am experiencing. The picture accompanying my post is secondary. Thanks again.

I go the other way. LOL But all to our own.

Your ode painted a picture that was easy for me to imagine. Part of my childhood in southern California holds memories of lemon trees and orange trees and sunshine. Even the most simple of meals can be remembered as a feast when it is paired with happy moments.

Yes, seaglass, I am a native of Southern California and you are right, "Even the most simple of meals can be remembered as a feast when it is paired with happy moments." Thank you for your generous review.

Hi SC, you've penned a very cool free verse ode about a moment in time from the past. I thought you used sensory descriptions well to evoke a sense of time and place. The formatting and presentation was very clever and thoughtful as well. Excellent flow due to a judicious use of poetic sound devices. THanks for sharing this lovely and authentic memory.
