Perhaps they're good for stimulating snot. LOL Even the birds in the garden won't eat them. As far as I know they have no use at all, except maybe to inspire a funny poem. Good luck in the contest.

Well written poem that begins all seven words with the letter "s" creating a slight twist to the prompt.

Somebody once said dip them in chocolate for a tasty morsel.

Don't know if that is true.

Not sure I want to know.

Too slimy, just like snot.

Should be a good contest entry
