Excellent 2-4-2 entry, and best of luck in the contest. The second line sounds rather strange, as if a word is missing. Maybe I'm interpreting incorrectly, but to me it seems that the man laughs at sad poem. If that's so, we sometimes to laugh at inappropriate times, maybe to ease the tension. Your commentary in the last line is great--blissfool, a pun on blissful, I as I understand it. Is Basho a fool to laugh over something that's actually sad. judi

LoL My, dear friend, you are taking the poem too literally and it's a haiku. I know the second line lacks a word but this is a 2/4/2 poem contest. I just turned it into a haiku for fun, and it wasn't easy. The satori is always clever in some way, I know that the right word is blissful but that would not be clever or funny. :)
