This is a clever story in a poem that gives the reader a final glimpse of a humble cowboy. The rhyming is steady with an easy flow. Bravo, judester

Very well done. I am not into the whole western bit, but once I started reading this, I could not stop. SO, you must have done something very right. I like it that you wrote as an old cowboy would talk. That adds considerably to the authenticity of it. A bit of a sad ending, but was expecting that. Great photo choice to accompany. Great job and Good Luck!

This is a very well written cowboy poem. I enjoyed reading it because it flowed very well. The story is sad as I did not expect the cowboy to die. I like the use of cowboy language as it made the poem come to life. Great poem. Good luck in the contest.

Very good cowboy poem - you fulfilled this challenge with the right tone. I like the "wild west show" - wearing out one saddle and many horses - and outliving friends. The elements of the old west are there.
Good job

A very well-written cowboy poem/story about the last visit with an old friend who died while you were still there with him. His story of his life he tells over and over because that is all he have left.

You are a natural story teller, and the rhyming couplets are the dazzling candles on a frosted cake. I enjoyed reading this very much because it was interesting and flowed very well.

This fabulous work deserves a six star but I don't have one to give. The poem flows with the western jargon and is a very pleasant reading experience. The story itself fills the reader with emotion. This should be a poem of the month! I love it!

a good cowboy story in a poem. I loved that he was honest about his relationships with women. Sounded like he probably was ornery.
I like poems that rhyme, too, although I think a lot of publishers today prefer free verse.
What are some of your children's books? And your new one? I write for kids, too. An enjoyable thing to do.
good luck in the contest.

My newest book is "Through The Mist." The prior one is "Mysteria."
These were my first attempts to write children books. I wrote my autobiography a few years ago "Autobiography of a Nobody (Then
Till Now"), It is doing quite well. If you read any of them, please let
me know what you think, vvdt575963@yahoo.com. Thank you very much for your kind review and five stars. They are greatly appreciated. I prefer rhyming poetry, free verse is more like a story to me.

This work has reached the exceptional level

-Very nice image, Willie.
-This is an excellent poem
and story with very excellent rhyme
and meter so it flowed down the page.
-The imagery is very good, too.
-The first line gets our attention.
-He's done so much in his life
and deserves to be proud of it.
-He has so much to share
about the time he lived in, too:
"I really don't remember how old I am.
At this point, who gives a damn?"
-I love the ending, too.
-This is a wonderful entry;
good luck!
