I guess it's a two edged sword. The one side holds a time of reflection on all of your accomplishments and sad/glad times with them. The other side only holds the emptiness of the nest that was once brimming with activity. I like this and the message conveyed in it. Well done!

Ahhh - you describe so well the feeling we have - looking behind the doors, discovering one toy left under the recliner - or fetching one more blanket out of the room they slept in. It lingers - and it's good to have these memories to drag out - often.
good poem

The empty nesters' is a significant and obvious subject with your wonderful art. The poem is poignant in that it shares the feeling that one has when their children have left. No more schedules, appointments, gatherings, and surprises, but the presence of those wonderful beings that you nurtured, never leaves. They lurk behind each door and every hallway. Well presented!

A very well-written Ottava Rima about the empty nest syndrome when the children are going their own way we suddenly have more time to do things but we still feel their presence around every corner.

Even if the next is empty therein remains the love and the comfort of a home and often the children return to it for some love and guidance, I enjoyed your words here, very sentimental and loving, love Dolly x

Your creatively-written, touching poem is nostalgia at its best. So many on this site will be able to relate to your moving description of how the memories are there when the kids leave home.

Oh, I really like this one and think you will definitely do well in the contest. Your poem covers a lot of things that we mothers hold dear, but alas, we have to let them go out on their own. I am glad you still hear the beat of life in your home. Well written.

I think I may have put a spin on the meaning or intent of the writing. But I will go with where this took me. I reminds me of the sadness and emptiness of at least 3 small colleges in my state. But then spirits are there. Everything is definitely a fact about those colleges. I'm not sure how many families hold those halls, classrooms and activities dear, but I am certain many do. Vermont is a small state.

Comment from Gloria ....
I think this a very well written Ottava Rima. Everything seems in order as per the form "rules". And more importantly your message of the extreme quiet that occurs once the nest is empty of the little ones is a message all parents will relate to.
Best of luck to you in the voting booth with this beauty. :)
