Whew! What a ride. It leaves me breathless...and thankful I never went down that path. Nice work. Well written. A couple of small comments: in the 30th stanza (or break), you wrote, "...and show this "queen" that your not going to back down..." I think you mean "you're" not "your".
In the 63rd stanza (or break), you wrote, "JUST REMEMBER WHO THA FUCK YOU ARE". Was "THA" intentional or do you mean "THE"
Thanks for sharing your work. Good luck; good writing and stay well.

Yes thank you for your suggestions and I will change them right away! I did actually mean THA not THE.
Thank you for your kind review and rating!
Many blessings to you and your family;-)

Melodie:
This reads as if it is autobiographical. If so, I am so happy that you are no longer addicted. I have been told that crack cocaine is addictive the very first time it is used by someone. Your message to never give up is excellent. My best friend's oldest grandson had been addicted to crack and OD'ed twice during that time. He is okay now but tells me it is a daily struggle to remain clean. Thanks for sharing.

It was a daily struggle in the beginning, and then, after a few months then years, it was not even a thought anymore about using and still isn't today. I'm not in recovery, I'm A SURVIVOR OF ADDICTION;-)
I appreciate your excellent review and rating!
May God bless you and your family;-)

Melodie, I am so glad to hear that you are a survivor of addiction. I would also say you are also thriving now. Jan

What a raw, ragged, cut me to the quick slash of a poem! You took me down that rabbit hole and showed me the many apparitions of addiction...
Not sure you needed the endless quotation marks when referring to "she"--it was well established as a metaphor very early on...
That being said. YOU quite literally bled onto the page, unapologetically--revealing the allure, the high, the denial that any drug could overtake your will, the cliff dive into the drug owning you, and the very painful and very human struggle of facing her down and finding your footing in a world where every problem is an opportunity -- and she is always waiting, spying, seducing...
Six stars! A triumphant poem, if only because nothing is sugarcoated--and in an addicts life there really is no happily ever after--there is only today--a victory today. Then tomorrow...
Very nice to read your work again! Congratulations on a poem that should be framed and hanging at every rehab site!

Wow what an AMAZING review and thanxxxxx so much for the SIX STARS!
I would give it to as many rehab places that would take it because maybe it would make them think hard and long about the road they were on after it's not fun anymore. It ceases being fun once you figure out you are addicted.
God bless you and your family;-)

Maybe you can be the change! Wouldn't hurt to make some copes on good stock paper and drop them off at local rehab centers, NA, etc...
Also, if you type in "Addiction Poems" into your browser you'll see there are all kinds of forums dealing with this issue, many of whom are looking for poetry, essays and the like!
Blessings to you as well. You know what they say. If you can help one person...

I can't begin to imagine the darkness a drug-addict feels inside. Wanting to be free of the drugs at the same time desperate to get hold of them. Your poem is hard hitting, and pulls out all the stops. I wish people could see this before they go down that road. Well done, and congrats for beating it. :)) Sandra xx

A harrowing yet deeply insightful poem that does indeed give the reader a glimpse of a world of "what if" which is reduced to "when" by this drug. Thank you

I sat dazed for a minute after reading this poem which comes straight from the heart. I have never experience drugs nor have I seen the substances in real life. All I know is how it affects people. I can never imagine what makes people do drugs. The movies show the horrific effect. This is a bold and very strongly stated sentiment. Thanks for sharing!

Movies don't show the half of hard drug ADDICTION, jus sayin!
Thank you for your compliments they are so appreciated;-)
It's not easy having empathy for someone when you can't wrap your brain around why they are doing it and what causes something like ADDICTION, but you seem to be empathetic which is an awesome thing!
God bless you;-)

This is a powerful and wonderfully written poem. Rather it be drugs or alcohol and many others addiction is the hardest thing to rid ones self off and deserve praise for doing so. Thank you for sharing this intriguing message. God bless

This poem, Rock Candy Queen, drills down deep into a life ruled by such an all-encompassing drug. The reading seems as endless as the grip one is in as addiction crushes the soul. So happy for you to be past the worst and in recovery.

I'm not in recovery as much as I'm a SURVIVOR OF ADDICTION! I'm the beginning of was a struggle but after months and years have gone by, there's no temptation, no thoughts of using crack and my soul is free from the hold it had on me;-)
I warned it was a lengthly read and it's not going to be shortened because it would no longer depict my journey through addiction. It was a long ten year ADDICTION or more, I don't even keep count anymore because I refuse to give it any place in my life except to be written about;-)
Thank you for my awesome review and rating!
God bless you and your family;-)

My goodness! What a very powerful poem - and yes, it does take you right into an addict's soul, and pain, and the fearful grip of the drug. Very hard to read! Thank you though for sharing. May all who read show understanding and compassion, and never judgement.

Why hard to read if you don't mind me asking?
Thank you for the last part of your sweet review because more often than not, people judge me but it no longer bothers me because I know "this too shall pass"!
I appreciate the excellent review and rating!
Many blessings to you!

I meant hard to read because there is so much pain and distress revealed. (Nothing to do with size or font!) It is very well written.
-
Wow thank you so much, you made my entire night and day! Hugs!
-
You sound like a very strong and amazing person! Hugs to you. Have a great day.
