I think we would all like to much younger than we actually are. I remember upon retiring, saying to a checkout girl, (the supermarket gave discount to seniors) would you like to see my seniors card, she said an emphatic "no", disappointed I left with my "goods" with my tail between my legs. Heh heh. Well done, I loved this biographical account, well done, blessings Roy
Typo : By Tuesday (by) husband...my? 2: inde(e)d the day will come...3 :the ever-(shing) stars, shining?

Thanks Roy. Actually--apart from the pair of Dicks I married--my life has been too good: health, security, friends. It's more a matter of pessimistic introspection--kind of like waiting for that shoe to inevitably drop; after all, aging and death are inevitable. Still holding at 63, but tell the truth, I cringe to write that number. I just say I'm 36--not necessarily in that order! Cheers. LIZ

Well done

This is quite an emotional piece. You capture the darkness of death very vividly with your words. I'm sorry you had these experiences to express the harsh feelings.

This is a sad but interesting story about how feelings can change over time. I like the beginning part best when it discusses the sands in the hourglass. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Susan. I wrote this mortality "trilogy" when I was married to an adoring husband--per my footnotes, his feelings (and mine) indeed changed over (not much) time! Cheers. LIZ

Elizabeth,
This is a beautiful story. I enjoyed every part of it and your emotions you so freely bared throughout.
accrued through he (the) fickle favors of fate
One Tuesday, by (change 'by' to 'my') husband followed his usual gushing with this afterthought: "
Inded (Indeed) the day will come when whatever asthetic (aesthetic) appeal I may
which neither particilarly (particularly) pleased nor offended.
beautiful countenance of the ever-shing (shining) stars;
Patricia

A slow death would give anyone time to do some serious reflection, and Imagine it would sound very much like this piece of writing. No matter if we receive a slow or quick death, we should have prepared for eternity.

And I wrote that heavy stuff 18 years ago! Think of how much more morbid I must be today. Fortunately, I frequently digress into humor to balance out. Cheers. LIZL

You did very well back then too. Think how much you have improved!
