Lisa may, you've written an excellent poem again. Your poem describes the world with all the chaos; and how wonderful and sweet silence is. I like the warm photo of honey. Very good work. Good luck in the contest.

You are so right, Lisa, in you suite of 5-7-5. We are saturated 24/7 on the doom and gloom of the virus inundating primarily the U.S. and Europe right now--at least that is what's shown on the maps on TV. I do hope your country is spared such heavy numbers. Marilyn

thanks for your review, Marilyn. NZ is getting by quite well so far, due mainly to it's firm leadership, a small population, and border checks (more easily done with no immediate neighbours.)

This is definitely a poem that has a golden touch of truth. Nice honey photo, by the way. Favorite line are the last 3. I think the news rarely generated as much light as other programming I saw years ago. Children's shows were much better overall in color and light portrayal. And also classic musicals.

The poem touches on all these things. Too much of one thing is just that "TOO MUCH'. I find I am not watching as much TV News as I was before. It's only about one thing. Done that, been there, got the T-Shirt.
The good news is, there is quiet meditation.

We need to get on and listen maybe once a day to be informed, but it is too much of a downer to hear the bad news continuously. I agree that too much silence is not good either but we need to find the balance. Hang in there. Hopefully soon, the end will be in sight.
Your poems state exactly how you feel. Nice work.

I don't listen to the news anymore myself but I try to keep busy rather than sit in silence as, even if you don't want to, the news seeps into your brain anyway. Well written poem and thank you for sharing. Stay safe.

I'm with you. I get depressed by the news and want silence. Your second and third stanzas describe perfectly my reaction. Good metaphor for what comes next--HONEY silence. Stay well and sane. Rod

I like the connections between the stanzas that lie within the extended metaphor, encapsulated in the title. The whole thing worked for me like one of those word association games so beloved of the trick cyclists.

It's hard sometimes to stay positive when you hear the statistics. Australia seems to be doing quite well but if they lift the sanctions, who knows what the result will be.

I like the alliteration in:
Confronting crisis,
clamour of catastrophe

Stay safe
Judy

Impressive alliteration in verse one. Fresh and clever twist: comparison of honey and amber regarding color and stickiness/being stuck. I see in your footnotes your feeling of suspended animation--my sentiments exactly. Cheers (?) LIZ
