This pandemic has touched everyone, one way or another. It is so unexplainable that a WHOLE WORLD could suffer the same things at the same time. But, that is what is happening.
Your poem is a gentle reminder of this great loss. Well done.

More and more people are having to face up to what you have called 'The chasm of loss.' That is a fine title and worked so well into the poem in a line of internal rhyme.

I think you really captured the divide, but also the sense of being held down and then one day released. It reminds me of that song I just heard, that says, "Fear doesn't stand a chance when I'm standing in your love."
We are held down, but I take solace in the promises of how Jesus made preparations for us and his Spirit resides in us as a sense of bridge. Nice job. Memorable. Valued!

This is a definitely emotional poem. I appreciate the author notes. Even funerals or graveside services which would have been less than 10 minutes away seem to be off-limits. I caught a half-rhyme of 'loss' and 'cost' in the last stanza. Thank you for posting.

Hello, Lisa May:
I love your collection of 5-7-5 poems. Poetry is saying something that has been said before in a unique and eloquent way. "Fate's audience." We watch as fate takes its course, though I really believe God intervenes if we implore I'm to.
Most of the world has been secluded one way or another; sometimes we are separated from friends and family. And sometimes we lose someone. If you have lost someone close in this way, I'm very sorry.
Have a nice week, Lisa.
Best wishes.
Cindy

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your friend's father. My niece is in Luxor and has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Such things are hard to deal with at a distance.

Hello,
This is such an emotional poem. I really loved it. Your choice for the picture is amazing. Of course your choice of words is even better. Great work and keep doing it

Powerful--fresh imagery: captive, fate's audience...time scrolls through years...can't cross the chasm of loss (alliteration and rhyme too!) Poignant piece. Cheers (?) LIZ

Being Hindu, we've been conditioned to looking at death a little differently. While of course it hurts to see a loved one go, we've convinced ourselves that they are better off...being free, while we remain locked down ...trapped in this human condition with all its pain and angst. Good writing Lisa, as always ! Have a restful Sunday.

It has been so tragic Lisa, over 20,000 deaths in the UK now and rising every day, I am glad my parents are not around to experience this, your poem is gentle and melancholy, love Dolly x
