Thanks so much for the vote of confidence. I look for your stories. I take a break when work becomes overwhelming. Nursing is slowing in my area at the present, thank goodness. Take care and stay well.

I think this is a really good contest entry for the coping poetry contest. I all a counselor tells you to do is cope and gives no strategies...get a new counselor!

The topic for this contest was to be "coping with suffering" so I tried to get a bit of suffering in it...lol. This was not about me personally. Thank you for taking the time to read and review.

If this is for real, that is unconcienable. The digression of one's life given in therapy is to give the therapist tools to help you. If they are not giving then there's no hope with that therapist. Find another therapist.
The poem deals well with the subject and is a contender indeed, for the contest.

I love your poem. The idea and rhyming fit so well that I want to laugh. It is the black humor at its best. I especially like the following:
That one is far beyond all hope.
This life is such a slippery slope
Which leaves one hanging with no rope,
And all the counselor says is "cope".
It would nice if you could show some silver lining in the end.

You are so right! Counselors should provide people with methods for the practices they recommend. And I remember when I was in my early 20s wondering why there wasn't a better guide for living because I felt like life was throwing things at me that I didn't know how to handle. You expressed that feeling very well in this poem.

Excellent response to this prompt, Annie. If all a counselor has to offer as help is cope then they really aren't very good at their job.
But then they are only people and some are good and some are not.
I did however enjoy your wry sense of humour so I wish you much luck in the voting booth.
