Yes. Out there are a whole lot us who harbour in the deep recesses of our minds similar thoughts. What if he/she had not left us so early ? Often we sigh thinking about this..well done .The refrain add to the haunting nature of the poem.

This is a great poem. It was hard for me to read because I lost my mother 13 years ago, and mourn her every day.

These are such heartwarming, adorable words you found to describe your mother. But you were fortunate to have these precious seven years with your mother and they will stay with you forever.

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem, this brought myriads of memories, thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you for your kind words and review. I do not think no matter what your age, the wound of losing a mother never heals.

What if,

Hello, Mary,

I'm sorry for your loss. I was ten when my mother died and it changed the course of my life. Sometimes I miss having a mom. You did a good job with your heartfelt poem. Well done.

I like your post. I think your notes said it all. I'm glad you took the time to sit down and put your thoughts on paper (or internet). I just wrote a post about hurricane Sally...mostly because I was taking a break from cleaning my yard up. I think we all need to write anytime the muse visits. Bill

This is a sad little poem, and very touching. Family is so important and death is so hard to deal with even when it happened a long time ago. You evoked this well here. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

The author's words are engaging, heartfelt, interesting and creative. I pondered on the theme of this poem as the author expressed these
words so well. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork compliments this poem.

Mary,
I'm sorry you lost your mom at such a young age. This is a excellent poem in which you show your sadness and courage.
I hope you have found hugs since, because none of us were meant to be alone.
Good luck,
Best wishes,
Cindy

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This poignant poem, What If?, opens that big question up to all the times that a mother's untimely death cuts off. The milestones of growing, and magic moments to share, all missing, replaced by the reminder of a mother gone too soon.

This poem speaks how sorrowful days you live if your mother had lived beyond your seven years you would have hugs, love and care and happiness in the family; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR
