Oh, so London bridge is the code word the Queen. I wonder if a palace guard, even off duty would say that in public? Maybe, today, royals are more for tabloids and such.
Interesting entry.

Haha Lancellot Sir, I thought you at least would understand the mindset of the British royal subjects. They would take umbrage, putting it mildly, at your tabloid comments
The code words stated are the official words that will be released to the press by the Royal Palace on the fateful day that HM breathes her last breath.

What a fine job you did of portraying a most important story in just a few words. I really enjoyed this. The artwork was perfect as well. I would imagine that if you're British, the thought of a new monarch is never far from your mind. Well done.

Thank you Botts for your very kind words of praise.
Yes that day is getting closer, though this queen may well live on for many more years yet, thus going down in history as Englands first centenarian monarch.

I will be the first to admit, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I have read your flash four times and I still don't get the punch line. I hope you can fill me in.

Hi,
To answer your question. The "punch line" is the traditional tribute when a monarch passes away. The monarchy itself never dies. So the the toast pays tribute to the deceased king or queen while also acknowledging the ascension to the throne of the next in line -- be it king or queen.

So, the London Bridge refers to the Monarch?
-
Yes.
Those exact code words are the official message that will be sent to the media from the Palace on the day that the Queen eventually dies. Hopefully not too soon.
-
Thank you for that, I too hope she has a full life, she is amazing. I get it now, the Queen/King is a bridge between monarchs. It took a while to sink in.

I added author notes to explain it all. ;)
