Boy, can I relate to this, Jesse, although you have much better odds than I of walking normally again, my doctor sent me for another round of physical therapy and instead of working me, I was told that what I've got is all I'll ever get. I refuse to believe that a head injury is permanent, but I know the odds are long. I hope you are able to achieve your goal

This short story is well written and has a strong message. You clearly conveyed your feelings and in turn stirred up mine. I have no idea what it must feel like to be in a wheelchair, but I sense your strong determination to be relieved of yours. Always remain positive.

I look forward to the day your surgery is successful and you are able to walk once more. Until then, I will notice you and not the tool you use to get from one place to another. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

I understand. I once spent the better part of two years either in a wheelchair or on a walker. I got rid of them, and you will, too. Isn't it funny how different we are in our dreams?

Beautiful entry about your wheelchair and you.

I agree with you. I felt the same when I broke my ankle, double fracture. I used a W.C. for a while, after that a walker, and after that a walking stick. Well done..

Thanks, Gypsy, for your kind and thoughtful review. Your encouragement means a lot to me and to know that you experienced something similar lets me know that you know exactly how I feel.
Thanks for the extra Gypsy hugs,

I am looking forward and praying for the day I read in your post that you are walking. I know it will come and I'm ready to praise that day. Thank you for sharing this and am looking forward to you walking.

Hello Janice. Sorry for the delay. You know how life gets in the way sometimes...well this has been a doozy of a hurdle for me this time for sure!

Hi there,

things like this are a huge problem. I worked with a lot of disadvantaged and disabled kid. people ask questions of me about them, to which I always replied 'Ask them?' Ot if I'm feeling deliberately vexed will dramatically turn to the kid and repeat word for word in a loud voice just what they already heard. Used to crack the kids up...

People want to associate things with people. Wirth me it's my hair and beard. People make assumptions about me based on it. It's not different. Folk just need to wise up. lol

I hope they are able to do your surgeries soon and you'll be able to start using those walking sticks to walk with David. Your positive attitude will be a valuable tool. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent attitude. What defines us is often what we are, what we believe, and what we do... rather that the way we appear. I think this is a timely piece. I won't meet you, as I'm in Tasmania, but I will try to speak to those in the chairs... even if they don't necessarily seem aware of me.
