In other words Earl, you had damn well better not even think about marrying again. There can be no clearer message than "I will haunt you forever if you do!" You look her in her eyes and say, "I would be much too sad and broken hearted to ever contemplate being with another woman ever." If you can force a tear, it would provide a great effect.

I enjoyed the humour in your story. The psychology employed by the wife reveals a passive aggressive personality ruled by jealousy and retribution, with the husband deferring to his wife - either out of consideration or because he is brow-beaten - but in this context it is a joke between a (probably) long-time married couple.
