I feel horrible for having read this, but that is great! It means you managed to evoke emotion with your story. Thank you for sharing your story here, and best wishes to you.

Paul,

Really? Really.

I have read this piece three times. I cannot figure out if I love it or hate it. The not knowing is a really -- crazy feeling. That I THINK I like? I do not know why you haven't entered this in a contest -- but you BETTER not be using this as any stupid man way of telling us that you are sick. I will find you and I will hurt you way worse than any disease could. And far faster. Seriously.

The writing is crisp, clear, and above average - as always. I just can't figure out how I feel about it. Read it a fourth time. There's no doubt it's quality writing and an amazing story. Worth a six. Okay - I've decided that. But I'm going to move past it and now, I'm going to forget it. I've decided I think it's a good, really good piece of writing, but, no. I do not like it. Thank you.

Really? I did enter it in a contest. At least I think I did. I better check. I am fairly well, so I guess I'm avoiding the ass kicking that you were going to give me.

Yes ,that would surely put an end to cancer. However,
the few seconds before impact may have been enjoyable
to the individual. You expressed this well, Paul. The
imagery is intense, though poignant. I'm glad the person
hadn't been with his/her instructor at the time they made
the decision to jump.
Respectfully, Jan

Hello Paul a good day to you. I hope this finds you well. I liked your story it was a good read. Skydiving is on my bucket list whether or not if ever gets done remains to be seen. I wish the cure for cancer was as simple as skydiving. Have a good day!

This story really made me feel like I was jumping out of a plane as well. Do I take it the character in the story is committing suicide? Thank you for sharing and take care.

Yes that's certainly a quicker end! Very vividly written, especially the ending!!
It is a kind of black humour which celebrates doing things in one's own time and way. Hence very thought- provoking. Very well written Paul. It's a big subject you've tackled ....

Thanks, Wendy. Yes, cancer is a tough one to deal with - either having it or watching a loved one battle with it.

I certainly think that this is a cure for any malady that may occur in life, but in death of course there's a permanency to it all, but as they say, it's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop, beautifully written Paul. Blessings Roy

I love that, despite the serious subject matter, you've written this with fun and joy. Instead of a terminal battle, it's a joyous celebration of life and an act of going out on one's own terms.

I feel kind of sorry for the instructor though :-).

An exciting sky dive in the offing here and I'm not sure I could risk my life like that. The gremlins have crept into some of your words Paul. A fun post, I hope it was a safe landing? Love Dolly x

Hi there,

there a few bits of errant code floating about in this. They are quite distracting and should be edited out.

Not sure if you're using the advanced editor feature or not but the chances of getting these code bits is lessened if you do.

Well, that'll certainly stop the cancer in its tracks and no mistake.
