The best fiction has bits of truth. Writers are always encouraged to write about what they know. You take something you know and embellish it. This is a great parable type story, demonstrating a Christian message. It's better to be the one able to help, rather than being the one who needs help.

Thank you for sharing this story with us. I enjoyed reading. Yes, random acts of kindness to exist.

I was discharged this morning. I've been waiting three hours for my boyfriend to pick me up and take me home." (a quotation mark slipped in)

This is a lovely story and warms the heart and nourishes the soul. There is no way of anticipating the outcome of such acts of kindness. One day this summer, I was waiting in a long line of vehicles at Dunkin' Donuts to pick up my lunch. I noticed a bumper sticker on the vehicle in front of me and I was incensed. I keep ruminating on it while I waited, thinking, "What kind of person would put something like that on their car?" When it came to my turn to pick up my lunch and pay, I was told that the person in front of me had paid for me! To say I was stunned and ashamed of my judgmental thoughts, is an understatement. That simple act has caused me to think twice before jumping to conclusions based on assumptions! Thanks for sharing your story.

Terry - I love this story. My late husband was a huge believer in random acts of kindness. Indeed, on the back of his business card was written:
Practice a random act of kindness every day and he did. I try to also do the same and, each time I do, I hear Randall's voice reminding that it only counts a as random act if you don't tell.

I love this side of you and your writing. We are, indeed, God's hands, voices and managers of his blessings. They only happen if they happen through people.

This is a well-written piece and certainly a bit of a surprise, but still 'Terry' is very evident in subject matter and presentation. I'm not sure I understand the lack of quotation marks and found it not to improve the presentation, but neither did it take from it.

Great job and wonder Sunday morning piece!

So he was the stranger who gave her the money. He identified himself to the Doug Wolfe by knowing the pregnant girl's real name.
He had no expectation of payback for a random act of kindness and that was hi intention with the gift of the money. Well done Terry. Nancy:)

What a great story to read on Sunday morning. In fact, it would be good any morning. You did a great job once again. I wish the world was like this everyday. That kindness is not shown often enough. Shirley

This is powerful and poignant. I apologize but my pessimism told me that the man who gave her the money was going to be the father of the child she lost. I was delighted to find out that this was not true. I am happy to read this somewhat true story and to know that there are some people who offer random acts of kindness. Thank you for sharing. I am so glad that I read this today. I hope to find more people who show these acts of kindness as I make my way through this life!

Beautiful and so well written, Terry. I enjoyed it. A story we should all live by, to step up when needed, even if it may hurt a bit to do so. The rewards, mentally, are immense. Best, JohnC

The Bible Book of Proverbs Chapter 19, verse 17 says,
The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah, And He will repay him for what he does.
I do not know about anybody else, but if I ever wanted someone to feel indebted to me, it would definitely be God. This is a very powerful scripture. If it were widely known, I do believe that more people would be willing, in fact eager to lend a helping hand to the needy.
