Great commentary. Have you seen The Thorn Birds? It had the greatest line by Barbara Stanwyick to Richard Chamberlain when she tried to get him to kiss her. She told him that in her mind she still felt young (paraphrased) and I think she was right. My mind didn't age with my body. Some of my thoughts are different, but overall I think and feel (except for the aches and pains) just like I did then. I'm sorry I don't have a six, because you would have it. Enjoy your day. Shirley

Great commentary. Have you seen The Thorn Birds? It had the greatest line by Barbara Stanwyick to Richard Chamberlain when she tried to get him to kiss her. It's hard to pin down what exactly is meant by being in one's prime. Age wise, I suppose I was in my prime in my twenties, but I didn't know all that much. Didn't know where I was going or what I wanted if and when I ever got there. Mentally and emotionally, I'm much more in my prime now. I know things now like, the world isn't a bed or roses, not everyone gets what they deserve, and not everything is okay in the end. I've learned that I'm strong enough to take care of myself, but sometimes I do need a little help from a friend. You can't take everyone at face value but there a lot of really good people in the world, etc. I didn't mean to get off on a tangent, but you set me thinking. I think that "being in one's prime" is based more on how one holds their place in the world than how old they are at any given time. I'd say you're in your prime now. Just saying...

The way I deal with it is by breaking my life into parts. I may no longer be in my prime physically or in anything involving my body, but I'm playing bridge and writing better than in my youth, so, in those areas, I'm in my prime.

I guess that so much time has passed that I can't really recall when I was in my prime. Physically of course, it was many years ago. My boys used to think I would never slow down. Then, one day out hunting, they realized I couldn't keep up with them. They had surpassed me physically. I think it was hard for them to accept that I was getting older. As several people mentioned, you might be approaching your prime as a writer, but maybe not. Maybe you haven't attained it yet. Something to look forward to I guess. Well done.
