"friends" should be 'friend's.' Lazards should be 'Lazard's. "re emerging should be hyphenated. I put these three problems with possessive aportrophes first because otherwise I have to go back and find them. Errors like this are a distraction; even if the kids involved can use slang and make grammatical errors, it seems the narrator shouldn't.
The 'getting sawed in two' part should be more dramatic, maybe a more detailed account of what Joey actually experienced.
This young adult story has a great topic, and its small errors could easily be eliminated by a careful reread or a reading by another person.

This made me smile and what a wonderful ending to this magical show you created here, I just loved your story. For my birthday in 2021 I hired two magicians, father and son and they entertained us in a private showing for an hour. They were clever and we were all entertained and my friends still talk about that night two years later, we had such fun. Magicians are amazing and Joey also became a hero here, love Dolly x
