Sorry for taking so long to reply to your thoughtful review. The situation in Gaza still haunts me and I am still in disbelief that the world is still just standing by allowing the massacre to continue.

No war is good but sometimes they begin when one group of people think they can defeat another group of people. The Hamas convinced the Gazians that they could take Israel and were voted into office. Disaster has proved them wrong, and the poor people suffer for their trust. We all place our sympathy with one side or the other. The children should never be used as pawns in the game of war.

It's truly disturbing what's going on over there in Gaza and the Ukraine. Other countries political parties falling apart. It truly saddens me. A powerful poem with a powerful message. A great submission! Have a great night!

There are so many issues on one side or another, so many with different views and different thoughts.

Ultimately, we are one, and the sooner enemies and governments realize that the safer we will all become.

It remains sad, depressing, and, for the people involved directly, devastating!

I know not what to make of this piece
Which side is supported?
Surrounded by Arabs who would destroy the Jewish nation, attacked by over 1000 rockets and no one in Gaza mount an effort to stop the launches? No one knew an event was imminent? And so as the world turns the media continues to make the news not report it.

    Thanks Tom for your review.

Only one side is supported here. The side of peace. All else is hell.

This is a powerful and emotive poem that generally reads well. Without discussing the politics of the issue, you have described the slaughter of the innocents well and I like your rhyming. However, I just wish that you had kept the number of beats per line a bit more constant as this would have made your poem much easier to read out loud with flow.
Good luck in the contest

Setting the politics aside, you poem deplores the death of the innocent. What is needed is divine intervention. God has been a spectator for many incidents such as this. I wish he would get involved.

Between war and peace, the choice is obvious.

Why there is still war? In my opinion, no one benefits from war. It only destroys lives but nothing else.

World War II, Vietnamese War, and now Middle East war, people suffer as you describe in your poem.

You have done an excellent job in sharing with us the sad sceneries.

Keep up happy writing

This is a tragedy, and you write a compelling piece asking people to care about the victims of this war. There are always victims in war. America killed tens of thousands of innocent Japanese including women and children in the nuclear bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. This was done to spare the lives of American soldiers. So this is a complex situation, as all wars are. We have to remember that it was hamas that started all this by murdering innocent people at a music festival and chopping the heads off of innocent babies, shooting fathers in front of their children. The philistines and the Jews have been fighting for thousands of years. I think it will go on until Jesus separates them. estory

Well done. Good work.
I just wish people held all innocents with the same sentiment - the tens and hundreds of thousands killed in Yemen, the slaughtered Syrians bombed in hospitals and schools, the innocent Ukrainians, the butchered in Uganda, the genocide in Darfur, and of course, the holocaust victims.
Best wishes.
